Glad to see it. Feaster was an incompetent boob. His gaffes were or could have been momentous. His moves were mediocre. Accomplished very little. Would rather have Burke in charge anyday of the week. Or his handpicked guy.

Talking about Geadruea

-There's room for the small player in our game, but you better surround him with some beef; referring directly to Johnny Hockey. He's not going anywhere but YYC International.

I believe in the Jays.
|
Uhg.
What I'm basically hearing here is that Burke is firing Feaster and Weisbrod because they are not Burke. The only thing I liked about the Burke hiring was the hope that Burke would curb some of the Feaster excessess and Feaster would curb the Burke excesses and that the resulting sum would be more then it's parts. He's just gonna hire some spiritual clone of himself and remove any other voices in the room.
I thought the Rebuild was going pretty well. Excellent 1st rebuild draft, great lower round prospect (Gaudreau), excellent farm team, lot's of trades for young NHL'ers that had minimal cost.
Gross.
Sad day for the future of the Calgary Flames.

Feaster made some good moves but he narrowly avoided two major disasters (Richards and ROR), the past few drafts were very average and he got mediocre value for Iginla and Bouwmeester. He fully deserved to be fired today.

Easy as pie.

That Selanne guy worked out pretty well for him though. It's easy to forget how terrible he was in Colorado but Burke took the chance on him.
Niedermayer, Pronger, Beauchemin, Moen, Marchant. He inherited a decent team but he built it into the Championship team, luck or not.

Yeah, it's not like being an NCAA-style team ever won us the Cup or anything...

Johnny Hockey isn't going anywhere. And Burke is right, it's easy to bring in the size and beef, a little tougher to bring in elite skill.

Yeah pretty weak to suggest Burke had nothing to do with either Anaheim's championship or Canucks emerging into a contender.

You're putting words in my mouth. I didn't say that he didn't deserve to be fired. I just don't like his comment about how Toronto was a different situation than Calgary - when clearly it's quite similar - Burke's just jumping on after the dirty work is done.

He also signed some of those NTCs / long contracts... Sarich, Wideman, Tanguay and Babchuk to name a few...

good presser...
I liked the comments and the Burkes comments about the new GM to pick his assistant, that speaks to his intentions.
