Yup. Live off the back of another GM's work, then get lucky and sign a HHOF defenceman who wants to play with his brother and another HHOF-calibre defenceman who wants the F out of Edmonton.
Easy as pie.

This team is small without Gaudreau or Sven in the equation. I don't think it means either one are gone.
Just look at our defensemen....no a lot of size there. And guys like Hudler, Stempniak, Cammy sure don't help on the front end either.
You can make a lot of changes in this lineup to make the team bigger without having to trade Johnny and Sven.

-To me there is another team conducting the search for a GM right now
-If there is any overlap on the candidates we want, today is important and I will find that out soon
-You'd like to avoid the Christmas situation, but the way this worked out with the timing of the report is how things came about today
-75 days of being around asking a lot of questions, called teams they worked for before Calgary, got outside evaluations.
-This was fair, they deserved that

Feaster should have been fired the day after the ROR fiasco.........or immediately after the Avs matched. That wasn't just a mistake, that was a potentially franchise-crippling move. Feaster dodged a massive bullet when the Avs matched.
The next little while should be interesting anyway, hope Burke brings in the right guy.

I guess we need to start the countdown for the following:
1 - overpriced under preforming past his prime player who has "grit"
2 - stick boy from NCAA program to run as a straw man for GM so Burke has someone to fire when things go bad
3 - overpriced never preformed that great except for a few games goalie
I love how he back seats drive and says Feaster didnt get full value - people like that are scum.
Doesnt like how we havent been able to hold onto leads. Wow, I guess the fact that our team is filled with AHL players and that we have the lead to begin with isnt even a thought. Cause you know, all young teams have no problems holding onto leads.
I finally actually liked this team. Yes we were always going to finish near the bottom. Thats what happens when you try to hold on hope that a barely 8th place team is only a few pieces away from the Cup.

I REALLY wish that someone asks him if he'd make an effort to re-sign and keep Iginla at the end of the last season just to hear him say "Yes".

-I'm frustrated like all the fans with the inability to hold leads
-I love how the team works, I love how the coaches are using the kids
-Lots of development to be happy about, but I hate seeing these third period losses

The writing was on the wall when the hiring was made. Not dissimilar to when Feaster was appointed AGM and all the "second opinion" "sounding board" stuff was spouted when he was hired. It was obvious.
My guess is that he hires a first time GM, so Burke can take on a more authoritative and heads on roll and help the guy grow into the position. Jason Botterill would be excellent. He was originally a capologist, which is important for us if we're going to fill ours efficiently, and he's been apart of a winning organization down in Pittsburgh for the duration of his FO career.

Good point
This could increase the odds of guys like Cammy & Stempniak being traded this year before the deadline

Keeps talking about another team doing a GM search and time pressure. Gotta think Burke wants Regier, and he feels he needs to move now.
