zing lol
I wouldn't want to put hours on a console to watch TV, play music, movies, ect...I won't even use netflix ect. on my PS4 I just kept the old consoles for that kinda stuff. These things won't last forever
to each their own though

I'll admit it's cool. But I don't see the appeal.
I've yet to have a point where I've been playing a video game and thought "Man I really wish I could watch TV at the same time I was doing this".

Good news, Target replaced the XB1. I downloaded the update and everything is GREAT!!! so much faster than the previous one.
I think I had one with a glitch in the software

How about in between periods of a hockey or football game? I use it all the time when I'm watching live sports and I don't want to wait to PVR it. Plus you can google/search stuff while you play for tips, tricks, etc.
I don't get why PS fanboys hate the idea of extra features, it's so odd.

Those are the very reasons I'm thinking of buying an Xbox One after owning a ps2 and ps3

I don't think they hate it. Their console of choice doesn't have it and we all know how things work in the fanboy universe. Like I said before I'm very glad that both consoles aren't identical and each have different features.
Snap is the future IMO.

no hate just would never use it, I don't think anything to do with cable tv is the future...the future is streaming and on demand

You can snap on demand services if you so choose.

I think that's still pretty far off because 20% of Americans still don't have internet and far less have their own wired broadband internet connection.

Question for those in the know. How do the movies on PS4 work? For example Elysium is on there before it is released on Blu-Ray, if I purchase it is it downloaded to the PS4 or streamed like netflix? It is Blu-Ray quality if it is streamed? If it's downloaded can I delete it and redownload it? If I want to watch it 2 months later, 6 months later do I still have access to it?

Ahhh here we go, I was waiting for Microsoft's counter punch. Nice numbers - I think NPD is coming in a day or two?
http://majornelson.com/2013/12/11/xb...ts-in-18-days/
Some solid numbers coming out of the global Xbox One launch last month:- 2 Million Consoles sold through in 13-markets in the first 18-days

Yeah talking with the general public (co-workers, non-gamer friends), a good majority of console purchases tend to ride on brand loyalty. Literally 0 of them knew of any of the differences between the consoles save the price and the branding.

I must say that I apologize for my comment yesterday. Doesn't seem like much but I was in a pissy mood and posted in a manner I don't normally do.
Honestly the snap feature is great for a variety of things and like one of the posters above I use it to snap the TV during intermission while I play a game. No longer checking the clock to see when 17 minutes is done or switching back and forth multiple times. And if it's a game I have a passing interest in or is boring I can snap it there the entire time. Running the dish receiver through it is great just for the other little things like my young kids being able to say "xbox go to nickalodeon" and have it go to that channel for them. It gives them some independence and removes some of the little annoyances of parenthood (especially on a snow days like Friday and yesterday when i'm working from home with two young kids). I like it too for that matter given the 900 channels that are available to just ask it to go to abc or cbs or food network or hbo does make things better IMO.

That seems pretty clear. How esle you explain the love some people have for the PS controllers and the dislike they have for the 360 and One controllers? It has to be brand loyalty because that doesn't make a lick of sense

As someone who prefers the XBOX controllers (which I use for PC gaming, natch, though I do have PS3 controllers running on it as well), I generally agree. However, PlayStation controllers (in my opinion) are better for fighting games (esp Mortal Kombat) because the D-pad is 300% better, and for Tony Hawk games (for the same reason).

No worries, having perspectives from both consoles (are we still counting the Wii U?) can only be good for people to discuss/consider.
Even if you were "pissy", whatever! This is the THUNDERDOME after all!

I think controller preference makes total sense and has little to do with brand loyalty. I hate the way the dualshock controller is laid out but it has the best Dpad since the SNES controller. If I am playing a fighting game and I don't have an arcade stick, the DS controller is my preference. The Xbox controller is a better controller for everything else. I suppose it comes down to what you're used to or how the game is designed for that controller.

people without internet are not going to be buying a $500 next gen console, neither system would even work properly without it. (patches, software updates) Microsoft even tried to make the internet connection mandatory to play but after being booed off the stage at E3 they changed their tune
