If not for WC, I wouldn't have realized how big a country Brazil is. Other than Russia, USA, Canada, China, Australia, I don't think there's any other country large enough to require a 4 hr domestic flight.

US has to travel 9000 miles for their group play.

Believe it or not it is surprisingly not bad at all. I say that based on three months chugging about downstream around Santarem.

Manaus will be one hell of a party.

The biggest issue I see for the Germans will be the heat

i bet you they jack up the prices for flights to Manaus for fans. Especially English and US fans who travel well. During the Confederations Cup, domestic flight prices were increased 5-fold.

American logic:

Easy World Cup draw for the US. We have a 100% record against Portugal in World Cups, so another win is a lock. We have a 0% record against Ghana, so we're due for a win. We're playing Germany in a coastal city, so they'll claim all the best beach spots early in the morning and won't want to give them up for a soccer game. Guaranteed forfeit win.

Most of my American soccer buds are terrified and pissed about the draw.

I love it

Can you edit this so it just has the Fernanda Lima parts?

Thanks in advance.

Ze Germans....

Quote:
The German Football Association (DFB) is to build its own World Cup camp in Brazil, the DFB confirmed on Friday.

The DFB had been looking for a hotel to take up quarters, but could not find the ideal place so will now create a custom base in Santo Andre, in the state Bahia.

The resort will have 13 houses for the Germany players and staff, while the camp -- dubbed ‘Campo Bahia’ -- will come with a pitch and a private media centre.

The nearest airport is some 15km away, which will make it easy for the Germany team to begin their journeys to the distant cities of Salvador, Fortaleza and Recife, where their Group G games will be played.

The multi-million project will be financed by sponsors and ready in time for the World Cup, with the DFB on Friday confirming that the 'Campo Bahia' will be ready by March 2014.

Keen to see the next generation of English midfielders, with I think all getting a sniff of Brazil.
ex:
---Townsend - Barkley - Walcott
-------- Wilshere - Henderson

Who was the the last world class midfielder England had? Unless my memories fail me, I have to go back to Gazza.

Lampard & Gerrard are too easily dismissed. Both leaders for Champions League winners - so yes world class English midfielders.

Beckham too.

Scholes definitely. England should have won the World Cup in 2002. They're only weak link was David Seaman.

Seaman
Mills
Campbell
Ferdinand
Cole
Beckham
Butt
Scholes
Sinclair
Owen
Heskey

with Fowler, Sheringham and Hargraeves good options on the bench

If Giggs is on the left instead of Sinclair, England wins that World Cup in a walk.

Brazil were quite weak that year. They nearly didnt qualify for that tournament.
They beat costa rica, china, belgium, turkey twice and a ballackless germany.

It was an awful tournament.
