FL is right. It's easy to sit back, look at a video that provides no context and throw darts at the police.
Do they make mistakes? Yes? Are there ####### cops? Sure?
But walk a mile in their shoes before painting them all with the same broad brush.

Not trying to become a police officer. huh?
And the police are not above the law. I have never said that. The Canadian criminal code and other legislative acts outline what the powers of a peace officer are. Perhaps some of you people should learn what a police officers powers are instead of crying police brutality everytime you see them having to use force to arrest someone.
You know, like, actually have a basis for an opinion instead of talking out of your ass.
One more time for the slow people in this thread, WHEN a police officer is giving you an order, ("get down" "put hands behind your back") And a person doesn't comply, they are allowed to use force to arrest someone. It is not a negotiation, you don't get to argue with them, do what they say or expect them to use some force against you, it's not a court of law. They have power under the law to perform their jobs, no matter how much you people don't like it doesn't make it not true.
Yes it appeared he was excessive, and was reprimanded for it. Again please do some research into what the powers of a peace officer are.

It looked like he was at first, but when the officers tried to cuff him he started resisting.

Who the hell is painting them all with the same brush?
Jesus, I've defended cops a lot and in this thread too but lets not let cop love blind us. Of course 99% of cops are good but that doesn't mean we can't call one out when an incident like this happens.

It looked like he was resisting a beating. Fairly natural instinct.

They need to weed out guys like the one in the video as soon as possible...not just reprimand or suspend them. Guys like that ruin it for the vast majority of decent officers. I recall being told, as a kid, that there were many men in the Military Police in WWII with sadistic tendencies.

^ Absolutely Brutal...a 17 year old girl just left to fend for herself?
Boder is most upset about the fact that police took off with him, leaving his daughter stranded on the street in the dark. She even tried to call 9-1-1 to find out where her father was taken, but says they hung up on her twice.
Police eventually brought him back to the scene to meet up with his daughter close to an hour later. The carpenter was forced to take a few days off work, after suffering minor injuries to his hands. He feels humiliated about the incident and says his daughter has been crying constantly ever since.

Some cops aren't the smartest and have resentment problems.

Convicted of aggravated assault in the 2009 shooting of an unarmed man during a traffic stop, the former North Cowichan/ Duncan RCMP officer was sentenced Thursday morning at the Duncan courthouse — more than four years after the incident took place.
Pompeo received a suspended sentence of two years probation and 240 hours of community service. He will also get to keep his firearm.

Just absolutely ridiculous.

As for the hands - he missed a couple days of work screams I need to make my point. Your hands and wrists arent going to feel great when being arrested.
Any word as to why he was actually arrested? I am having a tough time buying into the parked in a wrong spot. Perhaps he parked in a wrong spot, cops showed up, ran the plate and he had a warrant of which the daughter was unaware of. That seems more realistic.
EDIT: after reading the story 2 things stand out
1)
2) If your illegally parked and get a ticket, take your medicine and move on. Stepping out into traffic with the "look at me, im photographing you" attitude is the wrong approach. That said, the officers should have just wrote another ticket for obstructing traffic and moved on. Arresting a guy is a waste of everyones time and I believe he deserves compensation. More of a big mess up by the cops than brutality.

ya ya, we all have seen this debate on here like a thousand times.
Anyway she's 17 and never been left alone? I think that should be her main concern... about why she got to this point in life without ever being left alone and she's 17 years old.
Not sure it wouldn't warrant, oh, I dunno, hailing a cab and going home. And colour me confused why in the article posted by Methanolic it says she has been crying constantly ever since the incident? haha... what? That is so weird. So this incident happened and she literally just stood there crying until her dad came back an hour later, and then they went home and she just sat at home crying constantly? That is hilarious more than anything. She's 17 not 3. Just bizarre.
I was a hooligan at 17 pretty sure. And so were probably most of you reading this post. And I certainly didn't sit around and cry all day(s) if bad things happened to me.

"the officers belief was not based on reasonable grounds, but instead on fear-induced stress" and this man gets to keep his gun and resume his police career. Whoa!

I was probably as strong as she is at 17 haha. Anyway she probably put herself in more danger by standing around the street crying than simply hailing the next available cab.
As for the crying for days at home, again it's just odd.
