As for the deal... its not for much, but clears a spot and gives a vet a chance to win something. I like it.
Yes Hartley doesn't seem to like Jones... Not sure why. I actually thought he brought a lot to the team prior to getting injured (against SJ I believe) but Hartley just doesn't seem to buy into what he brings. He has played well in the AHL and deserves another look. He plays hard and is decent in the circle if I recall.

Good luck in Anaheim Tim. I wish you well on your travels, but I'm happy you aren't on the Flames anymore. I like the freed up contract and maybe it will get a guy Knight up at the big club for a while.
It cant be both?

Surely we can rebuild and develop our youth while trying to win. If anything, moving out a vet and calling up Jones shows that they are serious about making room for younger guys to come up.

Yes, actually, it is a coincidence.

Today is a good day. Jackman's a good guy, but there was no room on Calgary's roster for him.

Fair enough! I was moreso responding to browna's earlier quote of the Leafs and Ducks trades being Burke's first, and pooh-poohing the conspiracy theory therein.
I should stop working while I'm surfing, apparently...

I'm sure it's intended green text, either way ends up being more of an attention seeking post than sarcastic.

What about the deal with the hated Kevin Lowe and the Oilers?

Jackman played well for the team in the past and did about all you could ask of him with his limited ability but on this team that role really should be filled by a younger guy and he was just taking up space.

Good luck to him and I hope he does well in Anaheim. Seems like he will be a good fit for with the Ducks.

Nice! Would have been nice to get a little more for him, but pretty unrealistic.

Glad to see Jones is going to get a shot.

So because they trade a 4th liner they're in win mode? Nonsense.

I'd like to see a different look when we don't really need a super heavyweight in the line-up.

Wouldn't a 4th line of Bouma - Backlund (Colborne) - B Jones look pretty good?

I disagree with you and Bertuzzied.

He was already here, it cost nothing (other than someone else's money to keep him), and now we have one more draft pick. You don't want another pick?

Excellent, this team didn't have room for jackman and mcgratten. Good luck with the rest of your career jackman!

Maybe if the return from the Ducks was a player that Burke aquired during his time there you may be on to something.
