Just a little consolation for fans:
Johnny Gaudreau is currently the leading scorer in US college hockey. And is clicking at a goal per game!
The future's bright, friends. Just need to get through the inevitable bumps in the road, but you can be sure, there's some good kids coming down the pipeline.

I didn't find the game that boring. Both teams gave a decent effort and it wasn't such a mess as some previous games have been. A whole bunch of top players were missing from the game, so really no wonder that the level of skill on display was a bit pedestrian.
We kept the SA down, which was nice and probably got us a point. Essentially we lost because the guys panicked in the OT. It's a confidence issue, and understandable with our recent record.
Too bad we couldn't score the game winner in the end of the 3rd, where we basicly dominated the game for a good stretch. Bobrovsky played a good game. Plus we're just short on skill. Anyway, we didn't lose because we played bad, we lost because the Jackets are better, and that I'm okay with.
Nice to see Colborne get a goal, would be great if he could get some confidence going.
But hey, points in two games in a row. Haven't seen that since the first five games of the season.
IIRC Hartley said at the beginning of the season that they've broken things down into five game segments.
Here's how that breaks down so far:
1st segment: 8 pts, goals 18-17. Great start.
2nd segment: 2 pts, 11-20. "Road trip from hell."
3rd segment: 4 pts 14-17 Slipping, but hanging in there.
4th segment: 1 pt, 11-21 Flat on their faces.
5th segment 2 games in: 3 pts, 6-6 Back up and moving again.

Yup - that roundhouse kick save was awesome. Colborne's goal was awesome. I like Lance Bouma & Kris Russell. The Flames' play on Nikitin's goal was a freakin' Gong Show. Berra shows flashes of brilliance and then some flashes of
I would rag on the Saddledome fans for the quiet Library vibe that was happening, but there really wasn't much to cheer about.

Found the game really "boring" as well. Highlight of the game was the amazing save.

you cant coach a team, struggling with skill / learning to play an NHL game, to be better.

I thought that Hudler really struggled last night and that was a big difference in the game. Fought the puck and turned it over regularly and then didn't bother to either go to the bench or get back for the winning goal. He's been great all year but Jiri was bad last night.

Yeah, yeah, we get it. It's Hartley's fault....blah, blah.
No one is buying what your selling.
Team sucks and is basically in month 7 of a rebuild, if you want to blame the coaching go ahead but don't start polluting every thread, because you are wrong and no one cares.

There's no chance he signs in Calgary once he hears about the guy blowing the air horn all night.

Hartley does deserve blame. This team was atrocious last year defensively with an NHL calibre goaltender in Kipprusoff (sure not in his prime but could still be effective) and a veteran NHL roster.
He's just not a coach who can teach the defensive side of things. His defensive systems are very poor and when you watch this team in the defensive end, you know that they have no idea what to do.
Hartley is a good communicator (mostly) and he's a positive guy, but he really is very similar to Keenan.
Honestly, I had no expectation that this team would be able to defend. I just want to see them play hard and score some goals, and that's pretty much what Hartley has provided.
This team's poor defensive play is a reflection of Hartley. I don't think that Brodeur or Roy in their prime would have much success in front of this team. If you watch some of the top teams, their goalies spit out big rebounds too, it's what happens after the rebound that is the difference. Luongo's nickname on this board is Reboundo, but the team in front of him knows where to be to eliminate the rebound threat.

Chris Butler.
In all seriousness, does no one see an insane repeating trend on CP and in Calgary? Coach comes in, Coach is the savior. Team struggles, burn him at the stake. GM comes in, GM is the savior. Team struggles, burn him at the stake.
This is not an issue that ditching Hartly can fix. The players aren't good enough right now. And the GM is doing the best he can with a stigma of a - a western team, b- a non playoff western team and c - non LA summer all year playoff contender team.
these are uphill battles. Changing staff constantly is ridiculous.

Rather flat game but the third period was better.
Good save there by Reto Berra to keep the Flames in it and basically got a point for the team on his own.
Good goal by Joe Colborne, the guy trys hard at least. Same with Lee Stempniak. If those guys are your most consistent guys every night you know you may have a problem.
You're not going to win many games in any league if you only score 1 goal.
The real problem with the Flames is still Jay Feaster. He's just not a good manager or GM. Just look at his latest trade in acquiring Ladislav Smid.
You have to wonder if that's the best he could get for the 2 prospects that he gave up and makes you wonder if any other GMs actually want to deal with him even.
Things could get a lot worse though if some even minor changes to this lineup aren't made soon.

That trade was Feasters most obvious win since he took over as GM.
