Is Rob Kerr's over-Euro-pronunciation of Reto Berra's first name as cringe-worthy and annoying to the rest of you as it is to me? Like nails on a freakin' chalkboard.

I just hope he is afforded the same leniency that Roger Millions and Peter Loubardius were. They weren't given a long leash and were axed from announcing the games in short order. I thought both were better than Rob, even though I didnt like Lou as much. Lou and Kerr just have that way of annoying the listener... Millions was too much of a homer which is possibly why he lost the job..?

Sadly however I think Rob Kerr is a favourite of the decision makers so I think we are stuck with him for the time being.

The one positive is he is good for a laugh at how dorky he is...

Kerr is likely cheaper, so Kerr stays. Sportsnet!

What bugs me most is how he can't figure out that a city is singular. He says things like "Calgary come away with it" or "Calgary dump the puck in". It should be "Calgary COMES away with it" or "Calgary DUMPS the puck in". You could even say "Flames dump it in". Maybe I'm being overly nitpicky but it drives me bonkers

That's the trouble with sports grammar sometimes. As per press stylebooks, a team, regardless of referencing city or team name, should be referred to as plural. It definitely sounds awkward, but what he's doing is correct. Some broadcasters don't worry about it too much though

Loubo was growing on me towards his last days as the Flames pbp guy but I can never visualize myself enjoying Rob Kerr. I think he is great when he is on the radio talking Flames but he is just not good at play by play. When he tries to match the emotion of the game he is off, he makes several mistakes, and says some of the corniest one liners I have ever heard. If I had gamecentre i would watch the opposition broadcast all the time.

How does he say it? I haven't been watching much Flames lately, and it's mostly because of how irritating Kerr is. Literally, unlistenable.

Meh, Rob isn't the best pbp guy but he knows hockey and his love of the game is always evident, all in all I can live with him.

If I was going to complain about someone on the Sportsnet broadcasting team it wouldn't be Mr. Kerr, no, it would most definitely have to be Mr. Simmer. I hate to rag on the guy as he seems like an extremely nice man, but by god does he bring nothing to the telecast. Rob seems to have much more insight then he does with regards to the in's and outs of the game, Charley's comments are always the same, canned cookie cutter responses he trots out every game. His voice is monotone and boring and for some reason he never wants to relate to his own experience as a player, you'd never even know the guy even played in the league if Rob wasn't always mentioning him being a part of the "famous triple crown line".

It would be nice if they could get a younger ex-player to take over in that role, someone with some personality and someone who has an intimate understand of how the game is played today, not how it was played 30 years ago. And if that guy happened to be an ex-Flame, I wouldn't mind that either. Although I'm guessing it's easier said then done to get a even somewhat well known ex-player for the kind of $$ Sportsnet is likely paying.

I find almost every aspect of Sportsnet to be annoying. Rob Kerr obviously tops the whole experience because he's at the forefront of their broadcasting, but everything else just adds to the whole amateurish nature that is Sportsnet.

I didn't mind Simmer as much in previous seasons, but he's gotten pretty hard to handle in my opinion, last night just being one example that for some reason really seemed to get to me, referring to Dustin Byfuglien as "Justin" on at least two occasions.

Then there's the little things that still somehow find a way to piss me off, including but not limited to, the fact that the sound is sometimes not synched with the play (I love hearing Kerr call a goal before the puck is even shot), the fact that Sportsnet never changes their commercials (I can't even explain how badly I would love to knock that Telus campfire guy or the ProLine "lost the remote in the couch" guy clean out), and the amateur intermission crew including Bray Fay, Brad May, Doug MacLean, Nick Kypreos and whoever else is on that panel.

Kerr I could take or leave as the PBP man but I'll watch the Flames no matter who is the guy calling the game. Makes no difference to me!
Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like Millions lost his voice over the span of him doing pbp. His voice seemed to get raspy.

Also for those people who trot out the old, tired argument that fans will always hate on pbp guys, I will say that in the few times that Rick Ball has broadcasted Flames games on CBC, he has been absolutely fantastic.

We would be very fortunate to ever get him.

It's funny because I think Kerr is amazing on the radio, he just hasn't fully transitioned that talent to TV. Although I think he is getting better. I used to have a hate on for Lou but I think it had more to do with how frustrating the Flames were becoming to watch. By the end I actually really enjoyed Lou, and am pretty happy to hear him on the radio with Maher. It was always easy to tell how much energy and effort Loubardias would put into PBP, I used to always think he looked hammered by the end of the games, what a beaut.

Simmer strikes me as a guy who pays more attention to the game itself rather than doing commentary. He seems lost sometimes.

Ideally I'd like to see Pinder get a shot at doing PBP, or at least commentating. From what I hear from him on the Fan I think he would be great on TV.

Miller and Cuthbert are good, Cole is good if you just use his voice as an emotional gauge and don't get too wrapped up in player names. Hughson is good when it's not a Canucks game.

There are a lot of good PBP guy, it's just that ours is bad.

I used an example of a guy who called a Flames game recently. Not sure what you mean by your comment.
