Despite looking shaky in the third against the Oilers I think Berra has still played the best of any of the three this year. No harm in riding him for a stretch see what he can do, see how he can bounce back etc. Neither Ramo nor Berra are probably long term solutions but I've felt a lot more comfortable with the latter then the former so far this year.

It was a shot at the media (and I guess some posters here) who were reacting to Sven's benchings as if he was a hall of famer and not a rookie who's struggled at times.
Harmless quote IMO. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree since some of you seem to want to spin drama out of nothing. I will maintain that you and others are overreacting to a big extent. I doubt Sven gets bent out of shape at all by the comment which mean the comment somehow offends fans worse than the player? To me that is silly.

I wonder what would have happened if a reporter fired back and said "Well, you're no Scotty Bowman either".
I guess Hartley would have been ok with it because he is not Bowman.

I would agree the only argument is that Ramo hasnt been given a long stretch of consistent playing time to get comfortable and show what he has. All I know is that I am happier having Ramo or Berra playing then MacD.

It seems to me that a popular tactic among good coaches, when the team is in a funk (in this case having lost 6 in a row and 10 out of 12), is to deflect attention and pressure away from the players.
Hartley seems to like to throw logs onto the fire.
I hope it works out for him but I won't be surprised if the team lays an egg tonight.

Hartley would have responded something like "yup you're right, what's your point" at which point the reporter would have looked stupid.

Good point - but it felt like he was on a quick string to get pulled out - maybe just my feeling but Berra has definitely been given an opportunity even if there were mistakes to keep on playing.

I have sources telling me the reason why Hartley doesn't like Sven is because his French has a swiss accent rather than a quebec accent.

Maybe they need this pressure to help them perform. Maybe it is too much. Every player is different and we can only wait and see how Sven progresses.
Hartley wont be going anywhere. He will be here for a couple more seasons IMO. I have no problem with that. Everyone needs to buy into his systems and play as a team. Players who don't buy in should be shipped out. This has been a problem in the past, players thinking they know better.
This is the route the Flames organization wants to go and if players don't fit into the plan I think they will be moved before Feaster and Hartley are.
If after the 2014/2015 season we don't see any profess then discuss canning Hartley. By progress I don't mean necessarily in the standings, just forward in personal progress and work ethic.

Your recent posts have been so facepalm worthy that I honestly can't tell whether you're joking or not. Other goalies besides Berra have lost to the Oilers this season as well, hell even Kipper lost a few games against this same inexperienced Oilers team.
Maybe you should stop posting for 3 weeks instead?

As we try to figure out what we have in our goalies, I like the approach being taken. This is a rebuild year, so results don't mean much. I like that Hartley seems to be giving each goalie stretches to show what they can do. How do they respond after loses that aren't their fault, how do they respond after they cost their team a game (like Berra just did)? No better way to see what you have in each of them. Ramo will get another extended shot at some point I'm sure.

Can't believe people are defending Berra. Just mind bottling. The guy has 1 win and was shelled the game before against the Stars.
