Well, I have to agree that the anti-Hartley argumentation is starting to get to me too. There does seem to be a growing case that he's acting irrational and singling out players.
I also don't see how the constant line shuffling can do us any good. The lines have no chemistry as a result, and it's not like the players are magically going to get better.
The Blair Jones situation is starting to be a real head scratcher at this point. 6 ft 3 center, 210 lbs, 27 years old, plays a physical two-way game, good in faceoffs (iirc?), scoring nicely and playing with confidence in the AHL. He seems like the perfect guy to insert into the lineup right about now. But no.
Also, Monahan had a really bad stretch there, playing really apprehensively. Not a peep of criticism, no talk of benching.
It's as if Hartley knows that Baertchi is free game for his authority games, but Monahan is untouchable.
And the Jackman lovefest must stop at some point.

I hope ken king is slowly gonna let Burke have more control. He is a good GM and puts out the best interest for his team he also seems to be very good at making traded which is what we need. This deadline will be pivotal for jay feaster and this rebuild. They should be looking to sell any veteran for picks and prospects

I think it's pretty simple - Sven's play has been very high risk of late. I'm sure he's been told to simplify his game. It seems he has to a certain degree by activating in the corners, but his turnovers are still glaring. Instead of the signature 'edmonton toe drag' however, he's opting for some dangerous passes.
The good thing is, he can be a fantastic passer he just has to pick his spots more. Otherwise he's not finding his way out of the sin bin anytime soon.

We're facing a back up.... does he have a shut out yet, if not I'm guessing his first one will be against the Flames. Someone on the jets has to reach some kind of milestone against us tonight.
Either way, 4-0 Jets. Playing bad for Ekblad continues.

Yeah, I'm starting to think Hartley's personal opinions are creeping into his roster decisions, when he should be thinking a little more strategically. These kids gotta play, and they learn on the ice. Baertschi's ass in the pressbox does him no good. Jackman and McGrattan are goons and don't contribute anything more than fists in meaningless games.
I'm going to get slammed for this, but I also feel MacDonald should be back up with the Flames and Berra should go back down. I just get the feeling his confidence is getting killed with all these goals / losses. Well that, and I also don't have the most confidence in him as a goalie. Seems to let really weak ones in.

Sounds like false alarm re: Baertschi. Looks like he'll play tonight. Jackman and Smith look to sit out. #Flames

As long as Hartley continues with these messed up line combos, I can't see the Flames winning.
Edit: I guess Bob reads CP. Jihad successful.

They heard us. Good work, team.
Was this incorrect reporting or a change of heart? How can Millions say that Hartley is essentially at the tipping point with Baertschi, and then this?

i wish baertchi would just score already. frankly, i don't get if the flames lose, by how many, etc, i want to see baertchi get a goal or two, as i feel he's the kind of player that needs to see the points/goals going in to feel good about himself and is a different player when he's got confidence.

After those Hartley comments I'll still believe Baertschi is in when I see it. At least I can calm down a bit this afternoon.

So is Sven playing with Monahan-Hudler or are they going to put him with McGrattan and Bouma. If he's playing, I hope they put him in a position to succeed

But I feel he has been starting to gain some confidence, much more noticeable out there and a modest 2 game streak going.. This could be the start of something good which is why he should NOT be scratched.

Yeah, playing or not, Hartley's comments are still some unprofessional BS.

This thread is gold. 20 games in and people have completely lost their nut.
Whats it going to be like 60 games in when this years Jason Morgan gets put on waivers?? Bingo should sell tickets.
