Sounds like a great idea but who wants to sit or stand a few feet in front of their TV as the cables Sony provides are way too short. No idea what they are thinking as wire is cheap. Make the cables longer!

I had just bought a cord for it - $10 for a long third party one. Then if it died while I was playing I had an easy way to keep playing/charge it at the same time.
Haven't been able to find one of those for PS4 yet though. Fortunately the cord that comes with it is a bit longer this time, but I still want a new one.

Memory Express doesn't have a 12-15 foot mini USB cable I guess I could order one, I just hate having the cable strung out across the room.

Was an issue at times with the PS3 because the controllers wouldn't charge with the system off. Now that they have fixed that though it makes it a lot easier to come back to a charged controller.
On another note: Does anybody find it a little fishy that IGN launched a new website based on the Windows 8 framework (and brought to you by XBox One) on the day that the XBox One embargo ended?
Understand they want to market the XBox One interface (not sure that is working either since the site is kind of a mess this morning) but not the greatest day to launch such a partnership.

No, it is not suspicious. Games "journalism" is above reproach! Especially IGN!

Noticed that today too. I would take IGN's reviews with a huge grain of salt from this point on.

Well, it's not like Polygon's cash money directly from Microsoft (and their wacky review outliers). Maybe. I think. Ah, nevermind.

Rechargeable is the way to go.

The problem with the PS3 was that the charging cable was 4' long and it didn't charge with the console off.
EDIT: already posted above.

Must be fun though if the reviews are that positive even with those issues, they usually jump all over issues like that for games.
The review I am most interested in is Ryse, sadly the embargo for that review is not up until Thursday.

Wierd, I just read the review from Gamerinformer and they reported no frame rate issues.

SimCity 9.5/10 - Polygon
All that needs to be said about Polygon.

Surprisingly, I like reading Edge Online for reviews, as they seems to hate a lot of games, and much like Yahtzee, will point out both glaring flaws and niggly bits that could hamper an otherwise good game.
Generally though, reviews are only as good as the guy/gal who writes em.

May not be the best solution for everyone, but with my PS3 I just plugged the controller into my laptop near the couch so I could continue playing while the controller charged.

For me, I don't always have 4 bros over when I'm playing on a console, so it ain't no thing to grab another controller while I charge the one that died.
This of course assumes you had the wherewithal to charge all 4 initially however, and that they all work more or less equally well.

My face is a bum!

One thing I like about the PS4 controllers is you can take any phone charger that lets you plug a USB in and charge your controllers. At my buddies house this weekend we had 4 brand new uncharged controllers and just stuck an extension cord between each pair of controllers and we could have them plugged in and play without having to sit by the console.
It is pretty chincy how short those cords are though. If you have 4 controllers and use them all once every few weeks when your friends come over, you're going to have dead controllers all the time. It was nice to be able to pop AAs in on the xbox controllers when they'd die at a bad time.

Why? don't they usually do cross platform reviews?

I meant more in regards to exclusive games on various platforms.
It's hard to take a review seriously when the site boots up and says "Brought to you by Xbox One!"

You either have a very short memory or you don't know much about IGN. You can take any Sony exclusive game review from IGN over the years and find that's always higher than the average. Always! I like the uncharted games and GOW but man has IGN ever overrated those games over the years throwing out perfect 10's left and right for Sony exclusives.
