Yep, without the jam the team showed the first few games, we won't win any game. Bad teams need to outwork for 60 mins.
3 times this year we have seen multiple goals against in a short span that cost us an otherwise decent game.

Just wake me up when the nightmare is over, and we have studs McDavid, Gaudreau and Poirier up front and Ekblad anchoring the back end of a powerhouse team.

I'm not trying to rag on him, because I do like him. Just pointing out what sets great teams and poor teams apart.

For no one to jump in before the fight started is the part I'm getting at. If you drop the gloves you have to man up. But as soon as Ferrence started to push him our players should have been in there right away

Enforcers who fight really. Has to be mad when they lose. The give there health up for a win and you go out like that. If the flames get 60 mins together they will be good but theire always have been a 20min stretch for years. I like Feaster in the young stars tournament their seems to be a cancer on this organization they can't weave a full game together.

I actually agree with this. Moreso that that particular role in today's NHL is useless. Good teams have players that can intimidate throughout the lineup. Flames don't have that. Stempniak is part of that....that's all I'm saying.

On the plus side, we won the face-off battle!

Guess we're back to playing with little intensity for a period per game now eh?
Four goals against in one period? The Flames GA stat this season speaks for itself. That's on coaching.

Even the Young Guns made you pay when we lost. This team is just an 80lb weakling.

Sure...
...but that's no excuse for Stempniak. He still needs to take care of himself. The fact that he can't/ won't sets him apart from the truly effective top RW's in the NHL.

I am rarely doom and gloom, but we could end up having a season like this.

We were going to suck this year. I'm surprised that this many people are shocked.
Everyone on this forum talks about not rushing the rebuild, but it's funny to see the reactions after a game like this.
|
Totally agree. Everyone thinks a rebuild is one year or less. Hey, let's blow it up again, shall we? And I also think keeping Monahan up here is a waste even though he is good. It takes more than one great talent to build a team. Now, time's ticking for #23 to pick up a huge paycheck. And before you know it, he'll be just an above average centerman on a crappy Flames team several years down the road. This team needs to hit rock bottom for a rebuild people - like it or not. The Flames have not reached rock bottom if they have not picked up the #1 draft choice of the year.

Try Shane O'Brien - Jackman does not have a place on this team.

It's part of the rebuild.
Pittsburgh sucked hard for years until they got Sid. Even his first year there, they were bad.
Hawks were awful, until they got Toews, Kane, Byfuglien, Seabrook, Keith and that insanely deep batch of forwards. They had their growing pains, as well.
I think a lot of people are angry and frustrated because they do want to see the team succeed, especially when it isn't.
I hate this as much as anyone. I want to blame someone - Berra for soft goaltending, Hartley for questionable coaching decisions, Feaster for (lack of) asset management, even every skater for packing it in and not pushing back.
The worst part is, things might get worse before they get better, but eventually, they will run their course and Calgary will have a team contending for the Stanley Cup.
