Thank God for the breakaway posts. That could have been even worse.

It always blows me away how the tibia breaks, and the much smaller fibula doesn't. I did something similar, and my fibula was fine.

So I assume that means he is out for the Olympics.

From what I understand, recovery from this type of injury (depending on the type of fracture) can be somewhere in the range of 4 months or longer.

Ugh. I thought it didn't look bad until I noticed his entire shin bone flexing against the post

Sucks. He would've been dynamite at Olympics. Here to a fast recovery.

Well the tibia is rather anterior to the fibula, so in an impact like the one Stamkos had, the tibia gets essentially all of the impact.

Short of a brick taped to your shin, you're gonna do some damage going into a post with that kind of velocity.
Not once, but twice he tried to get up and skate on a snapped tibia. Dude is a warrior.

Can I just say this on behalf of everyone who's thinking it? When I'm told an athlete has suffered a horrific leg injury, I really do believe it. Nobody has ever said to me 'Player X tore up his knee on an icing race' and had me reply 'Bull#### show me the film or it didn't happen'.
The dude is hurt. I get it. I don't need to see the moment the bone breaks, or the moment Stamkos realizes his year is shot, or the anguish in Joni Pitkanen's eyes as his career dissolves with the rest of his heel.

So don't look at those things?
But there are some other people interested who do appreciate the links to the videos.

They're well within their rights to be interested in viewing these things. And I happen to think there's something a bit twisted about needing to see it.

It looks like the Bruins Player slew footed him.
Something caused him to slide into the net awkwardly.
An experienced player like that can brace themselves unless their skate blade is kicked out from under them.
I would like the league to review the tape.

Or it was just a freak accident that occurred when two players were driving the net.
Not sure how you can watch that and see any malicious intent or try to put any blame on the Bruins player.

You wouldn't understand unless you played the game.
