I have no idea how Edmonton can get out of this mess.

I make it sound easy when I say trade Yakupov and the 2014 1st for defensive help, but I now understand that, outside of that pick, there actually aren't a lot of players with value on the Oilers.

Sure they have their big 4 or whatever, but everyone else has zero or negative value. The team may not actually be able to make a fair trade. They'll be forced to make a bad one for the sake of improving one side of the game.

They have to pick two and ship the rest. If it was me, I'd go Hall and Nugent Hopkins and hope they turn out as Backstrom and Ovi lite. I wouldn't even re-sign Schultz if I were them, but they totally deserve his play. They bent backwards and totally pimped out their past players and history to sign this kid and he's a disaster.

What will happen is that they'll continue to deify the kids and be perplexed as to why teams aren't just laying down for them.

I really think the only solution to change the culture of the Oilers is to fire Lowe. I mean, this team turned Perron, Ferrence, everyone they've acquired during the last 5 years into losers. The change has to begin at the top if the impact is truly going to be felt across the organization.

Not just because the Oilers are in a terrible position, but really overall Yakupov just isn't very good. It would be interesting to see what value GMs around the league would see in him.

Takes two to trade.

With Lowe at the helm, and the damage he's brazenly done to that organization, as has been evident time after time after time, most players do not want to come to the Oilers because of hearing what sort of crap he pulls.

So, players that one would expect to be a good return for guys like Hall or RHN, will themselves have NMC's and have to waive them to go to EDM make that trade.

And, if Buffalo is a potential partner to trade with their situation looking pretty bleak, Lowe's likely not on Reiger's Christmas card list either from the Vanek thing.

I find that so hilarious. Executive MBA's can be handed out to anyone willing to pay the price. I am a bloody high school drop out, and I was offered entrance into a program. If you have 40k a year to give the Uni, anyone can get one.
