Maybe, but if a player doesn't want to be there you get as much as you can and cut bait. You don't keep him around to start the season if he's going to mope around and be a poor example for the young guys coming in.

Cherry can tell you all about Barie in more detail than anyone else alive could possibly care about, though.

The only person in Calgary upset that Tanguay isn't around is Glencross. Can you imagine the heat Tanguay would be getting here on CP this season?

The whole trade was meh. We traded meh and got meh. Completely lateral, nothing to complain about or write home about.

So Dubynuk is now dressed as the backup. How does that work? I assumed the two goalies dressed tonight were the only two they could use? I don't think I've ever seen the 3rd string goalie suit up between periods and sit on the bench. Anyone know the rule for that?

Off topic: What happens if both goalies on your team suffer unplayable injuries during the game? Do you have to put another roster player in net? Has it ever happened in an NHL game?

They'll put Justin Schultz in net, he can do it all.

I'm sure emergency goalies have played before. I seem to recall watching a game where it's happened, once or twice.

Haha, suck it Oilers

It wasn't post game, but yes Heally was harping on it more than once.

Hughson added the 'prime-time' gem.

Pfftt.... like they're still in the building. They're probably already spinning this mess to the media in a desperate attempt to save their jobs.

What a mess.

@andipHNIC Oilers have 7 shots on net vs. Detroit with less than 10mins to go in the 2nd. 3 are from forwards

I googled to see if I could find more info on an emergency goalie actually playing, but all I found were a lot of colorful stories about emergency backups dressing but not playing. I could have sworn I've seen a game when an emergency guy played, but I'm old and probably either mis-remembering it or making it up.

The irony about Heally's 4:00 whine is that it was arguably a huge benefit for the Leafs.

One of the challenges on a road trip - and what Heally was attempting to refer to - is that games are at different times than normal. For instance, west coast football teams typically have a tough time on the east coast because the games are at 10:00AM west coast time - just weird.

However, the Leafs have played every game on this trip at 7 or 8 o'clock eastern. The whole fata-ing league has bent over and re-structured the schedule to accommodate the Leafs. And then Heally whines and tries to make it sound like a bad thing.

Calling him a moron doesn't even begin to cover it.
