Also, this is exhibit A as to why even advanced stats are flawed. The Leafs continue to defy the advanced stats which are based around shot attempts. They are being outshot tonight but if you watch the game, they've controlled play and when they do create chances off the rush they finish with deadly precision. They'll always have a higher than average shot percentage.
There is advanced stats that only consider shot attempts when the game is close (within 1 or tied), since teams playing from behind tend to get more shots. So this game isn't really a case study in why advanced stats are flawed.

Man, Jordan Eberle is a disaster at this point. Not sure if he even knows he has teammates on the ice. That team ruins everyone.

How can Schultz actually be regressing defensively every game?

Given the world as a young player, never incentivized to actually learn defence.

Very hard to believe there are 2 other teams lower in the standings.

Even shaking things up is tough at this point. These players have no confidence, so sending messages with trades or benchings isn't likely to help either. The whole team literally needs a change of scenery

That wasn't really the point, moreso that the Leafs tend to get less shots on goal but score more due to quality of chances based on their style of play.

Even in the first period, the Oilers outshot them. The game was close at that point.

Unrelated, how funny would it be to see Yakupov score and keep the puck again?

It makes them going so deep into their past player well to get Schultz even more hilarious. Drag out the banners for everyone!

Kevin Quinn trying the "shutout" thing again. Poor guy. He's run out of ideas.

If they like that kind of play, We should trade them Butler

But they just said the oilers have had "dandy" types of chances.

Fyi, "dandy" chances and 5 goals would win this game tonight.

It's worth mentioning the Oilers have had a very soft schedule so far playing mostly Eastern teams.

If this is the best they can do, scary to think once they start playing a bunch of inter-divisional games. Phoenix, LA, Vancouver, SJ...yikes. Even Calgary will likely have their way with them.
