The point is that Activision is still working very hard on it. As such they aren’t talking about it. Microsoft isn’t talking about it. The press isn’t allowed to talk about it. It’s a forbidden topic.
What isn’t a forbidden topic is the native 1080p resolution of the PS4 version. Sony’s Adam Boyes proudly announced that the game was running in native 1080p at yesterday’s PlayStation Brazil conference that was live streamed around the world on UStream. Sony is proudly proclaiming the resolution that Ghosts runs at on their system, because it’s something to brag about. On the other hand Microsoft is deferring questions about Ghosts to Activision, and the press is forbidden to discuss the Xbox One resolution matter. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Only DDR3 for system/GPU memory pared with 32MB of “ESRAM” sounds troubling. 32MB of ESRAM is only really enough to do forward shading with MSAA using only 32-bits/pixel color with 2xMSAA at 1080p or 4xMSAA at 720p. Anything else to ESRAM would require tiling and resolves like on the Xbox360 (which would likely be a DMA copy on 720) or attempting to use the slow DDR3 as a render target. I’d bet most titles attempting deferred shading will be stuck at 720p with only poor post process AA (like FXAA).
Something to think about. If there isn’t an issue with the resolution, then why is Microsoft trying to keep it quiet with an embargo?
Interesting to see all this information come out as we get closer to the release of the next consoles - social media and the internet allows so much more than just the information in old school gaming magazines back in the day. So cool to watch - the PS3/XBOX/Wii/PS2/SNES/Dreamcast was never this neat to unfold.
In the meantime, more gaming industry folks keep adding to the 720p hype train.
What is the big deal about Drew Carey in front of the tv?

Picked up a DualShock 4 at EB Games in NorthHill mall yesterday. Didn't take any convincing, just asked they guy if they had them and he grabbed me one.
The controller feels great. New triggers feel good, the new joy stick design is an improvement, and the bigger size makes the controller very comfortable.
Also to note is that PS4 demo units are now available at various Sony Stores around the city. Fifa and Knack are playable from the bigger name launch titles.
Only had about 5 minutes to test it out but wasn't overly blown away by the games. Standing four feet away from a 55 inch screen probably didn't help though, pretty much anything looks blurry from that distance.
Knack was your typical platformer, very Crash Bandicoot like, and was alright. Still think that this ends up being the surprise of launch though, you could tell the makings of an enjoyable platformer are there, and you don't really get the story or advanced aspects from the demo.
Fifa was decent. The movement and flow of the players seemed improved, however it wasn't a huge improvement on the current gen game. Graphically (once again the closeness to the screen didn't help) or gameplay wise.
Hopefully as we move closer to launch some of the bigger titles will be available to try out, want to see how Killzone, Battlefield, and NBA 2K14 feel on the next gen.

Anyone know the estimated completion time for the single player portion of Battlefield 4? I'm thinking about picking up that game, Need for Speed Rivals and Knack for the PS4.
Earlier this year during the E3 sale I bought Forza 5 for $42.00. Then I bought the Limited Edition which means I have an extra copy of Forza 5. If someone is getting an XBox One and wants Forza 5 for a bit cheaper than retail let me know.

What is he confused about? DICE has been crowing about BF4 having a better and more immersive SP campaign than BF3s QTE-fest.
AFAIK, it should be available at release (tonight at 10 PM MST).
EDIT: Or do you mean how long it will be? I would surprised if it's longer than 8 hours.
I am just joking around. I still look at Battlefield as a multi-player only title. The closest I got to going through BF3's single player were those coop missions so I could unlock some weapons.

Multiplesourcesfromaroundtheweb report that while Call of Duty: Ghosts has been confirmed to run at a native 1080p on PlayStation 4, there's growing evidence that the Xbox One version will natively run at 720p, but will be upscaled.
Obviously there are people out there who know what resolution the game runs at on Xbox One, but several journalists including Forbes' Erik Kain and Furious Fanboys' Jeremy Conrad have come forward to claim an NDA forbids talking about it. The embargo date for all reviews is reportedly on November 5 - except for the Xbox One version, which comes a week later on November 12. Pete Dodd, one of the first people to suggest that the Xbox One version would have a lower resolution and founder of a campaign against next-gen DRM, wrote on his blog that Activision has remained mute so far because work is being done to get the game up to the native 1080p mark on Microsoft's console as soon as possible; whether this is done by a patch on day one or later down the line remains to be seen.
Rumours have also surfaced that Titanfall will run at a native 720p, though there seems to be less evidence for that
So now 720 "resolutiongate" might be the least of their worries? Starting to see people talking about big OS issues. Either there is a massive organized movement to falsely poo poo the Xbone or . . . this is all real? Crazy fun times - will be interesting to see how the launch goes.
(And can you imagine the launch poopstorm if Microsoft still had their DRM internet permission requirements with all these other problems?!)
As long as the PS4 can function properly to play games that's all I care about for launch, they can patch it as needed to open up all the other options. If I was getting an XBox One at launch I would have the same opinion of it as well.
I think people are forgetting/ignoring that the OS can be patched as we go. Would it be nice to have every single option from day one? Sure, but honestly I would rather have them perfect the main reason I am getting a gaming system before they try and get all the other features working.
Maybe I am in the minority, but all I really care about is playing the games on a gaming system (weird I know). I could care less about sharing video from a game, or tweeting about a game, or any of the other features this generation is offering.
/old man rant.

How is this possible? During all the testing and planning wouldn't Microsoft have noticed all this? I imagine having hardware that could only do 720P when their existing hardware could do the same would be a red flag.
As more and more information comes out I'm starting to believe that the XBox One is more a multimedia device than a pure games console.
On the flip side, here's a video for the Xbox One dashboard. No mention whether it's a marketing video or not.
Yeah, people concerned about it being mocked up and asking for how the live demo might be. I do not understand how that isn't possible to show people right now - there are logistics and licensing issues that prevent you from showing YOUR OWN UI?!
I have a feeling that Sony's goal was to encourage a negative marketing campaign against Microsoft right away, which got the fan base active, and the media will always follow that because it knows that will drive traffic to their sites.
For example two negative stories about PS4 haven't gained much traction:
"Although sharing physical games remains as simple as Sony's tongue-in-cheek video suggested, games bought over PSN will be more locked down" Microsoft got hammered in the media for DRM but it sounds like the PS4 will have it as well.
