If I find hair in my food I send it back for the chef to make a new one. I will use the same criteria for the new jersey.

I've been clinging to this as well. The third is so similar to our regular home uni so it'd make sense. Plus, it seemed every year they wore the retros more and more. I'm too lazy to look it up, but it felt like around 14-16 times last year anyway, so obviously someone high up in design for the Flames liked them. Kind of strange to wear them that much lately only to completely ditch them overnight...right?

In fact, I remember being at a game in the first third of the season, and they announced it was the "second last" time they were wearing the retros... they then wore them at least 5 or 6 more times after that.

There's no denying the popularity.

Close to half their games (45%-55%) of their home games last season were of the retros. By how frequently they wore them, they know it's popular with the fanbase. So one hope that this is indeed the game and we get something similar to the latest icethetic's concept posted. The last time the Flames had a third jersey, it established the template for the away and home primaries.

16 years is 16 years. That's a whole municipal council term away from 20 years.
Also, the current font wasn't used on the pedestal jerseys.

Actually this topic really shows me how you can't make everyone happy no matter what you do.

I couldn't stand the pedestal jersey or the Heritage jersey, but clearly that's not a unanimous view!

You'll never get 100% agreement regarding these things.

As far as I'm concerned, 80% is as high as we'll get. These jerseys are terrible.

Even the the glorious threads created by Split98 would be an 80/20 split.

Yup, I already said it, but when it comes to third jersey designs, you can pretty much expect that three-quarters of your fan base will hate it.

You can also expect that they will sell like crazy.

Terrible? No.
Average? Yes.

You'll get over it. I know it's the Internet and all but there's no reason things have to be either "glorious" or "terrible". The funny thing is that aesthetically these third jerseys and the jerseys Split98 are really not that far off. Simple, clean design, bold colours, new number font. This jersey is a home run if the logo is a little bit better (i.e. No flaming C AND wordmark, one or the other) but with the logo as it is, it's still perfectly acceptable 3rd jersey. I think most people are confusing what they want for a third with what they want as our home/away set, which Split's design would be much better for.

The reality is, a large contingent of fans are going to like those jerseys, they're going to sell well as almost every jersey does in a hockey market, and at some point in the next decade they will be gone.
