Of our D who do play PK, Brodie and Wideman have been on for 4 goals against and Gio and Butler 3. So everyone's pretty much tied.

I also wonder if people who are so against players like Butler and Phaneuf aren't really just jealous and think it should be THEM in the NHL and not said players they have such a vendetta against.

Phaneuf is overpayed but still brings a lot to the table with his play. Butler brings nothing. Not sure how you compare those two. I never wanted to play in the NHL and I think Butler is terrible.

I wouldn't say I have "faith" in Butler, but id say that I think he still has all the tools to put it together and become a solid 2nd pairing guy.

I'd give him a bit more rope, because he might come around, and having a guy of his age who can play top-4 for years to come would be really handy. But I sure as heck wouldn't have him paired with SOB, and I wouldn't give him any longer than the end of this season.
 |
As much I appreciate the notion... 6 years and 274 games in the NHL, and no progress in the last two years in the Flames.

Discounting divine intervention, what you see is what you get.

I really doubt it. Sure, some of them have played hockey a fair amount in their lifetime, but I don't think so many people saying the same things about players through their educated observations are doing so to live out some unfulfilled dreams. I'm sure most are aware that they would never be good enough to be an NHLer. Try again.

There are a lot of NHL players I would be jealous of before Chris Butler

And what do you base your hockey knowledge on if I may ask. I've been playing the game pretty much my whole life. I know what I'm talking about.

Like giving credit to guys like Butler for even making the NHL and being good enough to stay there even though he is a bottom pairing dman.

While you're right in that it is a massive accomplishment to be in the NHL in itself, that doesn't mean players can't suck comparatively to other NHL players.

He is absolutely, without a doubt, the worst defensemen I have seen in quite some time.

Where are all the people who said he was better than Regehr?
 |
After Regehr was traded, a certain somebody called Regehr a pylon (more than once) and also used another name for the anal orifice.

Another poster, who prides himself on being a draft expert, boasted that this was the "most mobile defense corps" since he started following the Flames.

Some real beauties by a Butler apologist contained in this thread:http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...=sabres+butler
Pay particular attention to the thanked posts. That way you'll know who NOT to seriously discuss hockey talent with in the future!

Nah just a draft watcher
What was it, Butler was supposed to have the best outlet pass of any Flames defenseman he had ever seen? Something like that........ too lazy to look.

That link up above is The Butler Transgression Thread, but, yeah, something close to that in there for all to see. It's lenghty but probably wasn't appreciated enough at the time. It's a gold mine now.

You can thank me later. |
