Weird.
Didn't say I like him. Still think he isn't fit for the job. Doesn't mean I can't give him props for good/funny calls.

Fixed your post. I'm sure he's a nice guy but he's not good at play by play. I want to feel like I'm watching a professional sports league not the local community circus. That goes for Charlie Simmer too --- seems like a great person but his monotone delivery doesn't compliment what is supposed to be an exciting sport. I think the criticism of sportsnet's broadcasts is more than fair, it just doesn't even come close to watching other pro sports broadcasts, including other hockey games.

This guy is absolutely terrible at his job. Can we get a decent PBP guy?

I think what matters to Sportsnet is that he's probably cheap.

Kerr and Simmer should be doing AJHL. I put the game on mute and listen to FAN960 now.

I try hard not to dwell on him, because it diminishes my enjoyment of the games when I do. I treasure the HNIC and TSN broadcasts when they come up, and otherwise try to power through it.

I have to admit he has regressed this season. There was a stretch last night where he and Simmer were just talking about some dumb story while the game was going on with no PBP and it was just brutal. He really needs to focus on just calling the action as the past few games really did sound like amateur hour.

I wrestle with this because Kerr worked hard on the Fan 960 and is really good as a sports talk guy but I don't think he's cut out for PBP.

Isn't Roger Millions out of purgatory by now? He did a decent job, and definitely didn't take away from my enjoyment of the game.

Rob Kerr was best a few years ago when he was the "home game fight only play by play man". Every fight was WW3.

Even though Rob Kerr would not likely take this as a compliment I genuinely mean it as one.

Rob Kerr, if you are reading this you need to go to pro wrestling. You would be AWESOME at it. Maybe the best ever.

I don't know why, with two great options available (Millions and Loubo) that Kerr stays on. Is he doing it for free?

Maybe King and the Flames had a lot to do with Kerr getting the PBP gig on Rogers as payback for all those years when he would put in the hours on OT and the fact that he really did a great job at that and covering the Flames daily on the radio? Maybe Kerr was going to take another job and forced Rogers hand? No idea really but it's a little puzzling that he's being misused like this.

I don't even notice him, or any other PBP guy to be honest. I'm there to watch the game, not hear commentary. If he's so terrible, mute the sound. No one is forcing anyone to listen. If the team plays hard, I am entertained, regardless of who's commenting.

Yeah, the negativity/hate is just downright ridiculous.

It makes the game thread unreadable if anything. Every game thread is 25% criticism of the commentator whether OOT or GT. Gets a little stale after a while. Every slight miscue or big one gets more posts than goals

No one is forcing anyone to listen? That's ridiculous to have to turn down the volume. Absolutely ridiculous as SN is a service that Flames fans have to pay in order to watch Flames games.

There should be at least a bare minimum standard with a professional sports broadcast. I'm not calling for Kerr to get fired but somebody at Rogers needs to pull him aside and tell him to call the game and keep the stories for moments when the game is on a time out.

Can we just fire Sportsnet instead of Kerr?

Last night's broadcast was shockingly bad. Sound that's 5 seconds out of sync, choppy video for the entire 3rd period? Most 3rd world broadcasts I've seen look more polished than what we were treated to last night.
