I have to say i don't hear what you hear.
That is great calling. Sometimes you just have to take the stick out of your quester and enjoy the game.
Kerr was put in a tough spot. I'm sure he's grateful for the chance, but he was brought up to the show mighty quick. He's still pretty new to all this and I think he's doing a fine job.
I haven't read through this thread but I do know some people think he's doing a fine job, others think he's doing a terrible job. I'm with the group that think he's doing a terrible job. Both him and Simmer are crap. I honestly don't even know why I hate his PBP, I think its because there isn't one thing I can say he did good at this year.
I don't think there has been a game that I've been able to watch this year on Sportsnet that hasn't made me stop and think "Wow... WTF did he just say?!"
All I can say is Sportsnet has a serious problem in finding talent for their PBP and colour commentating and I hope by the start of next season I can be listening to anything but Rob Kerr.
The goal call for Baertchi's 3rd in the first minute versus Phoenix was just embarassing. Sounds like a Junior B broadcaster. Seriously.
Is it off-topic to note that:
1) Baertschi has the hands that I've wished on this team for a while. That immediate deke to the backhand on his goal is just class. Instead of screeching into microphone like that, Kerr should have just dropped the mic on that play.
2) Isn't it nice to see a player who actually does something on the 2 on 1 to open himself up? Usually our miserable 2 on 1s end up with both the puck carrier coasting and the second player coasting in parallel down the ice. We know how those end. On the 2 on 1 near the end of the clip, Baertschi accelerates to open up a passing lane for his teammate.
Well, Rob isn't the best pbp man out there for sure but I like him, I think he is a good guy and he has a family to support. Therefore I say let's give him another year and hope that he improves. When SN dumped Loubardias it turned his life upside down so how about if we give Kerr some time to review his first season of pbp and try to improve on it?

That this is even a thread is ridiculous and embarassing.
Really it is Kerr has kind of embarrassed himself of late. I'm not one to usually get into this type of thread and hope for someone to lose his job but the last two games were amongst the worst PBP I have ever heard.
I can't fathom how management at Rogers could really be happy with what's going on here and Flames fans deserve better than this.

I don't think so. A lot of people think it is embarrassing that some people get on message boards just to try and get someone fired from their job. I am one of them.
He keeps screaming into the microphone. Whisper silent, and then a full-on scream. Loubo had a scratchy and kind of aggravating voice, but once I got used to him, I really enjoyed his knowledge and commentary. Kerr is just painful to listen to because of the screaming (and a few weird things he says).
Few last forever in this day and age. I don't think Kerr will last forever. Wonder who will be next at some point.
There are times when he will produce a 'wtf moment'. Most games in fact. But overall, I don't mind him. I often listen to the other team's commentary on GCL, and a load of those guys make me want to go to sleep. Which ain't good as I generally am watching live games at 3am.
At least Kerr brings enthusiasm and a bit of life to proceedings.
I don't even notice him, or any other PBP guy to be honest. I'm there to watch the game, not hear commentary. If he's so terrible, mute the sound. No one is forcing anyone to listen. If the team plays hard, I am entertained, regardless of who's commenting.
