Considering that there was a daily talk of hoping that PL would be fired, that wasn't exactly Nostradamus like.
And now I will predict, everyday for the next 365 days, that there will be snow in 2 days...
There was daily talk of people hoping PL would get canned? By who? Moon?
Loubardias' firing came as a relatively big surprise to most as he was just settling in and was starting to win some fans over. At least that's the feeling I got from this place. People didn't like him at first, but his style grew on people. I know I was in that boat.
I think I've just gotten used to Kerr, because I don't really have a problem with him anymore. He's not great or anything, but he's adequate and has improved a lot since the start of the season.
That said, when old clips from previous seasons get posted on this board and I hear the Loubo PBP, I really wish we could just switch them around.
First of all he is Ken King and King's TV boss Jim Bagshaw's buddy. Why do you think he does the in-house pre game stuff? By the way really wish he would lose the dated argyle sweater's and bad tie look. Word is King encouraged his hiring. Flames partners with the network. Had to be the Flames, the man had no pxp pedigree worth the job. Finally, I agree his level is likely Junior or maybe AHL. Based on horrendous mistakes and inability to engage his audience. Not to mention a personality of drywall. He's not NHL level but as long as King's around he is your guy. Socially inept and arrogant is no way to achieve greatness. Just doesn't have it.

All PBP announcers should have to do time doing radio PBP for a couple years before they are allowed to do tv. If a PBP can successfully paint a picture for the audience on the radio -tv should be a piece of cake. Rob Kerr's profile shows that he did radio PBP for the Hitman and the Roughnecks. Surely before he was hired he submitted tapes of his Hitman and Roughnecks PBP broadcasts - could those tapes be much different than what he does now? If they are different - what happened? and if they are essentialy the same - why was he hired? Or did they not listen to his earlier work and just hire him on a hunch?
I find it much better than when the PBP guy emphasis the goals of his team more.
Ugh, I hate when the PBP guy is a total cheerleader for his team, and pretends like the other team doesn't exist.
The best guys in the game call the game as it is, and put the appropriate amount of excitement into their voice to reflect the temperature of that particular moment in the game, no matter who scores. Kerr is far from perfect, but I'd much rather have a guy like him than the dude from Colorado.

Okay, some hyperbole on my part. In all of the game day threads there were people complaining about some aspect of PL, and wanting him replaced as PBP guy.
I think RSN has learned their lesson about how fickle the fan base is, and probably won't be getting rid of Kerr just because they know that as soon as they do, there will be the sudden outpouring of disappointment to PL being let go. The 5 or 10 people on here that vehemently hate Kerr and represent a tiny fraction of viewers probably won't get their wish though. If they want to do yearly try-outs for PBP guy, I think that might be a fine idea. They deserve a chance to find their groove.
I would appreciate it if they listened to some of the constructive criticism and actually corrected the problems instead of blatantly ignoring them.
I'd sure like to know why they don't just use maher and rodgers - they are all employed by Rogers?
I am beginning to thnk that Maher is getting close to retirement, and probably having your radio and tv PBP retire without a backup would be a bad thing.
Kerr's goal call is horrible he is just the worst.
It sucks they got rid of Loubo when they did just when he was starting to grow on me. When I got to the Dome and watch that opening video and hear the goal calls on Iggy's 1000th point of Kipper's save on Sid in the SO I realize he was really decent and miss his passion.
Kerr could have his old job back though because Bryn is just the worst as well.

I don't think one person would miss Kerr if he was let go as PBP. I agree he won't be let go but he has been embarrassingly awful this year.
Lombo was awsome. I didnt think people hated him. I think people made fun of him but it was good natured. Kerr is just some kind of terrible. And the radio misses him
