See my above. Those are voters as well, are you saying that their opinions and views aren't legitimate? We're not talking about columnists and journalists here, we're talking about voters.

I also mentioned that I saw the same stuff in the Herald and elsewhere.

But I guess opinions are ok as long as they meet your own high standards right?

Except if you spent any reasonable amount of time there (which I do, my Twitter is powered by the stupidity of Sun readers), you would know that 90% of the commentary in city-related threads is fueled by the same 15 idiots spouting anti-Nenshi/pro-Anyone But Nenshi (Lord) rhetoric.

It's the worst kind of echo chamber.

I used to write for magazines. What I learned was that the people who usually submit the comments are the ones who have an issue or problem. It is far less rare for people to post saying "I agree" or "that was well written". In my case, no comment was usually a good one.

Do the Sun/Herald comments have positive things to say?

What do you think?

I mean they POSITIVELY hate anything perceived as left or centrist, and they POSITIVELY dislike women and foreigners.

After the flood, Nenshi got a lot of praise from readers in both publications.

So does this now become a cake eating scenario?

Well if my anecdotal Facebook evidence is worth anything you either vote purple or your opinions don't matter. It's time to give up your fight and fall in line. You can even rest assured knowing that if you vote for all the incumbents everything is going to work out fine! I have nothing against Nenshi but his cult following is a little worrisome...

For those interested, the fake Civic Camp is still running and tweeting regularly. Looks like they're still continuing to mislead and take credit for work done already by others.

I drove past one of his signs going up Edmonton Trail today. It's just a spray-painted sheet of plywood. I think he had the same sign in 2010.

While I am happy that Nenshi came along and helped re-orient City Hall towards sustainable growth, I don't think that the city needs a wall built around it, and it's strictly upwards henceforth.

Until I read that, I thought Nenshi was wise about finding the proper medium. Upwards and outwards. There are different markets to satiate, and you can't force someone who wants to buy a new house on the edge of town to buy a condo.

Before I go off to far here, I'm still wanting to know what the direct question was, and what the answer was. I trust Nenshi much more than I trust some quote from the Herald. I'm hoping he's still my guy (he got my vote in 2010), but like I said, if that's the way he's thinking now (the quote I originally quoted), then I might have to re-think my vote here in 2013.

As for the "controversy" about builders endorsing candidates, the company I work for gave us their two bits. It was very tactful and unoffensive. Just a heads up that there are people that seem to want perimeter development to cease, so choose wisely when in the booth. That's totally fair. I appreciated that they didn't ram a list of candidates down our throats, because I wouldn't have necessarily voted they way they hope I do, even if I was told outright to do it.

Basically, Mr. Coffee, I can tell by your reply to my question, that you are in the camp of wanting development to either slow right down, or stop. I don't agree. And it's not just because I work for a builder. I think that it is a big part of our economy, and if Calgary were to stifle it, it would cause industry to move elsewhere. My primary interest is voting for the people that I think will most benefit Calgary for today and for tomorrow. It's a fine line to find. I think you and I have that line in different places. That's the beauty of democracy, though. At the end of the day, you'll be able to go home to your place (likely in the inner city), and I'll be able to go home to my little house in the burbs, where I have a yard and a deck, and I can afford my mortgage.

Wow. 28 followers. Well done, Fake Civic Camp. Everything about this is just so sad and pathetic.

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Nenshi has ever proposed completely ceasing residential development on the edge of the city.

Never said he did. The quote I'm on about sort of gets pushy in that direction, though. That's why I keep asking about it.

I'm actually quite surprised at that to be honest. Normally, when I make a sh*t attempt at a joke and it blows up in my face I give up on it pretty quick and begin trying to undo the damage.

Cory and Jane Morgan seem to be just going for broke on this (pun intended). I can't see CivicCamp, which has some solid donors, not going after the Morgans legally.

Best part is Jane has roughly 0.02% chance of having anyone give her the time of day or a shred of respect on this forum anymore. Took long enough, but she finally exposed herself for who she really is.

Im still confused about the whole thing. Cory Morgan had his words published that this is a joke, yet if you read Cory's latest blog posts, he talks about it being a credible and transparent group but with a biased political slant. So this isn't some "joke" as Cory describes it, they're serious about putting together some sort of counter-attack to a group that they think is not transparent and has a political bias.

Then they eschew all sorts of legalese, focusing on the whole "we registered our society so we're the legal group" slide. This is the sort of maneuvering, political roundabouts that I know the owners of this fake group are known for.

The problem for them is, their satirical public stunt is being overcast by the fact that they're spouting multiple messages, all of which are confusing at best. I'm not sure if their point is to chide the philosophy of CivicCamps, lament them not registering as a society, or trying to create a bias around a group of volunteers where there isn't any. Probably all of the above.

For a group that is supposed to be transparent about their intentions, there is quite the silence job going in this thread from a particular member of this society. At least defending herself over the outrage instead of providing canned and roundabout responses would have been better.
