Bingo, I sent you a PM a couple weeks ago - did you not get it?

Elliotte Friedman mentions our upcoming road trip in his 30 Thoughts:

Quote:
21. Did Bob Hartley pull a "Fast Eddie Felson" (Google it, fantastic movie) on the rest of the NHL? One scout who saw the Flames in the preseason said they showed nothing similar to what they did when the puck dropped for real. "When I saw them, they were backing up and trapping... didn't apply pressure," he said. "Now they are. Players like Sean Monahan were concentrating on doing the right thing positionally and now it's becoming more instinctive for them."

22. Calgary is about to start a brutal five-game road trip. There are going to be tough nights, but the Flames have established they will compete hard. "[Hartley's] got them working," the scout said. "They're in good shape and young kids have the stamina to play the pressure game he wants them to use."

Because the Flames are weird and they win games they shouldn't:

ANA - W
SJ - W
LA - OTL
PHX - L
DAL - W

Flames hand San Jose their first loss of the season and win for the first time in 10 years in Anaheim.

7 points.

How did the Oiler's playoff chances sneak into that picture?

I'd be WAY more than just happy if they pull half the available points out of this road trip. Likea previous poster mentioned, that would have made most of us happy back when we were a "contender" and not in a rebuild.

It is a tough road trip for a bad team that has got a lot of breaks to get the points they have. I think the bubble will burst and the team will struggle to get out of a losing streak when they inevitably hit it.

I haven't really crapped on the team that much since the season and pointed out the stupidity of the article that Lambert wrote on yahoo. If I actually disliked the team and wanted to "crap on them so much" that would have been an easy time to back up that article.
You are entitled to your opinion, and that might mean you think the Flames are the worst team in the league, but I do think picking zero is crapping on the team. Tough times may lie ahead, but to predict a goose egg is as reasonable as picking 10. Extremely doubtful statistically, either way.

They WILL lose their first game in regulation this trip. What I want to see is how they respond in the following game, especially if San Jose steamrolls them like they're doing to everybody.
