Believe it or not, I was once "Agnostic" to Backlund's existance/contributions/proneness to injuries and future with the Flames. It was the hordes of CP apologists that ran to protect him at every turn, that lit the match.

So you have gone from "agnostic" to wilfully ignorant regarding what Backlund has been doing to secure his long-term tenure in the NHL, and all due to the (not unexpected) over-rating of him by the fan base?

In some circles that would be characterised as a special level of crazy.

Congratulations on being THAT guy! Well done. What a ridiculous statement by TOTF. I mean, the distortion of reality it must take for someone to post something so incredibly outrageous. I mean, to even suggest that the Flames have even the most remote chance of making the playoffs is INSANE!

Sheesh, good thing you are here to reel people like that in!

24 isn't young?

Well if Backlund is out for any period of time, that essentially solves the Monahan won't be going back issue if it was one already.

Hope he isn't out too long, seems every time he's about to break out a poorly timed injury pops up.

He looked hurt after blocking that shot late in the game.

Devils had the pressure on there in the end but the Flames got the winning goal on a beauty from Sean Monahan on a great pass by Sven Baertschi. For the last few seasons, the Flames would have been happy to get out of regulation with an extra point. Times they are a changing.
You can't teach hockey sense and chemistry. Sean Monahan like all good players, knows where to go and Sven just put the puck to where he was at.

This injury situation is quickly spiraling out of control.

Hunched over and favouring one side of his body like it was a shoulder, arm or hand.

Unlike previous years, this may end up working to our advantage. No pressure to make the playoffs, and lots of kids deserving of a callup. Sucks to keep losing players, but it's not like seasons past where we're forced to call up guys like Lundmark and Kolanos to plug the leaks. Knight, Reinhart, and Horak are all waiting for their chance to play.

Sneaking in Jooris' name as well. He was some kind of impressive during camp.

Actually, they should call him up and eat Jones minutes and see how he fares. Could make for a sweet line with Monahan and Sven.
