Actually look much better with the entire uniform (except for the black which needs red pants). Still not great, but better. Don't think I will be buying one until the post-olympic clearance sales though.
^This is a good example of the use of black on the Canada jersey in a way that works. It's in the logo, it's in the sleeve and waist band details, and the socks match. So black pants aren't out of place.
Also I agree that the 09 WJC jersey is the best I've seen since I don't know when. Probably in my lifetime. I still say red pants work best with that too though.
Uh, really? They look as terrible as ever, and black pants and gloves with the white and red jerseys just look ridiculous. Where is the black even coming from?

When I saw the early leaks, I thought "well at least they've gotten away from the black."
And then today: every other piece of equipment is black.
I think that the era of "black for the sake of it" should be just allowed to die already, but if you're going to use it, at least tie it in with the shirts with a little trim or something. The white and red shirts look completely mismatched from the rest of the uniform.

There is little excuse, when the two main jerseys specifically appear to have been designed to have no black, to get lazy and throw black pants on them. Cutting costs I assume, not going to have two different sets of pants, though they are only likely to wear the armband black jersey's for a game against Norway or Austria in the preliminary rounds.
Red pants over black any day of the week but I am sure there are vain/aesthetic reasons players (women and men) don't like the sweat stains in lighter colored pants like red.
2002 was the best of the recent bunch if black HAS to be used.
Outside of that, the one year of simple red and white (1994) was great and really should be what Canada's hockey team looks like.
I wonder what the story behind the blue pants all those years (and trim, watching Gretzky in the 1979 WJHC)...maybe to avoid a clash in uniforms with the USSR?
I like 'em. But I am easy to please. Black gets as much hate as Nickelback, lol. Never understood the urge to be angry over any design, except the green WJC ones, that was blasphemy.
