Whatever it is, I'm sure he'll fire up the Skype. Or give Labarbera an "A" as well.

The problem for the Oilers is that they built this current version almost exactly arse-backwards from the way if should be done. You don't try to stack the forwards and then scramble to solidify the defense and goaltending.
Yakupov looked like a redundant pick at the time and looks even worse now. They could have traded down, gained another asset and picked a d-man like Trouba or Murray.
I love the fact that Kevin Lowe is still there after all the mess he helped he create, it's unbelievable, really.

If I was the oilers GM I would trade my 1st 2nd 3rd Yakpov Gagne Hemsky in the next month to shake sh*t up asap... And both the goalies.

This is what happens when your No. 1 picks don't have to earn a roster spot and top line ice time. There's zero meritocracy.
They start to develop bad habits and the team rewards them with long term extensions.
Flames fans complaining about the Flames' treatment of Sven Baertschi should take note. This is what happens when you coddle your prospects.

Ya, I agree with this. The other picks were fine but they really didn't need another of the same player.
A stud dman like Murray would make a big difference right now. Even if he would be super young still. They better hope Nurse develops quickly.

Why people continue to claim they want to tank for picks or follow an Edmonton model need to give to realize just how dangerous this way of thinking is. Picking the sexy pick is nice and all, but this team is a disaster.
No pride, no heart.
And they ruined one of my favourite Flames. You were one of the good ones Ference, now your Oiler grease and I hate you.

Thing is, they won't trade Yakupov now becuase it would be admitting that Lowe (or Katz, one of those 2 went over the scouts heads to make the pick) made a mistake.
And if the media starts to turn on the Oilers management, they'll respond by banning them or other sanctions.
You saw how Lowe reacted to even one comment questioning his abilities during the MacT presser.

I wouldn't count on that. He looks pretty raw. Still two or three years away from turning into a NHL player and probably a couple after that to be the type of defenseman they need.

The other problem is that they should have a bunch of guys coming in from other picks as well...
The ONLY player on their whole team who was an Oiler pick, non-first round, is Jeff Petry... 2nd round.
That is sheer incompetence.
(Flames and Canucks have 3 of their own selections outside of 1st rounders on the squad right now as an example)

Likely Nurse will take that long. They should trade one of their top youngsters to get that top guy now. Makes sense to the rest of the world. Not sure why the struggle with it.

I guess when everyone is pumping your tires and telling you how good you are, you start believing in your own hype. Eberle and Hall have looked terrible. Hall still does the crappy one-on-three junior moves that don't work in the NHL. No wonder he's such a turnover machine. And Eberle just floats out there, and just have short spirts where he tries to danngle through the defence.

Well I don't know why they want Yakupov as a 3rd liner... I just don't get that.

I like Edmonton, hate the oilers. Feel sorry for those people but enjoy watching this train wreck of a team.
Pretty sure the flames will murder the devils this Friday.

Ya, he should be top 6, if he isn't trade him for a bigger piece to the puzzle.
