You should show some significant progress with something like 9 high first rounders in 7 years.

This Oilers team is put together without thought or strategy.

Are we looking at rebuild number 3?

I think he gave them too much credit. His statement should read: You can't go from one of the worst teams in the history of the league to playoff bound over night.

It's actually hard to watch. I'm embarrassed for him.

Give him a break, he's just taking it easy so he can fulfill his starring role on Team Canada in February. Doesn't want to risk burning himself out.

4 years is more then enough time they should have been in the mix last year and not one of the worst teams in the league.

This is becoming an excuse for poor management, nothing more.

I will actually be a little miffed if the Flames aren't in the mix for a playoff spot in april in at the most three years.

Really this is like rebuild number 5 or 6 already, they got lucky one year when Pronger was willing to play in Edmonton for a year and carried a bad team through the playoffs. The only success the Oilers have had the past 30 years is all owed to one guy, and he hated the Oilers more than we do.

Hey Katz, I know you made your fortune with pharmacies, but that doesn't mean you need to dress like a drug dealer.

This is kind of a stupid point though. There are a lot of teams that don't have local owners/ownership groups.

It's hilarious to me that during their rebuild, they got 3 1st overall picks but the 1st overall picks before and after that span turned out what looks like franchise caliber players (Tavares definitely, MacKinnon looks very good). Hall and RNH are injury prone. Hall and Yakupov seem to struggle w/ hockey IQ. Eberle has been the best player produced during this rebuild and he wasn't even a high 1st round pick.

how long until they tear down this special group and launch rebuild 3.0?

In think a lot of them have accepted losing, and it has become ingrained. Probably have to do another rebuild to get rid of the problem. At least Calgary recognizes that wants players that want to win or they won't stick around.

Just play Sweet Georgia Brown in the background and pretend the Oilers are the Washington Generals.
