Here's a blog post from his son, Jeremy: http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sig-gutsche-dies
He writes about how Sid purchased the club and some of his charitable efforts.
It's well worth a read.

Stamps sign free safety Jamar Hornsby. Was a 5 star recruit in high scool (3rd in the nation for his position).
Had a lot of legal troubles forcing him to be kicked off the Gators, then went to Ol' Miss and also got kicked off.
Sounds like he has turned his life around.
A 6'4 DB with very good speed, doesn't hurt.
He played WR and RB in highschool. With his size and speed I wonder if they move him to WR.
To make room for him, they have released Alric Arnett.

Wow, it sounded like another Brandon Browner.
I know Arnett only played one game but he was not good and seems lost.

Unfortunately its " i believe it when isee it" for me.
Way way too many times with these thugs they opine about how they are all better than they were and have learned this or that and accepted the lord etc etc etc....and just turn around an screw up again and again and again.
This guy was a bad dude...who was already given multiple chances, and couldnt resist the gangster mentality to do whatever they wanted to do, regardless of the consequences. Rare that a zebra changes his stripes.
That being said, if he can help the Stamps (particularly at that position as its been a weak spot all year)....good signing.

Joe West will be back for the Bombers game this week:

Quote:
Now, wideout Joe West, his stint on the nine-game injured list up, is set to return from a separated shoulder in Week 15 against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
“I’m excited — there’s not many other words I can say,” West said. “I’m excited to get out there on the field and run around and have some fun.”

Just round it up to four and keep him out until the West final.

Won a jersey last night. Game worn Juwuan Simpson. So awesome. Game worn from labor day, got to go on the field at the end and they signed it on their way off. Pretty cool!
Thanks Stampeders!

They are a random draw of season ticket holders. One guy in our season ticket group got Drew Tate's 2 years ago. Unfortunately he didn't renew in our season ticket group after that.

Matt Dunigan thinks Kevin Glenn should be the starter for the duration of the season and I definitely agree with him.
http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/matt_dunigan/?id=434301
The guy proved to be a winner for the past two seasons only to become a backup again once Drew Tate gets healthy. He is very professional and well like by his teammates. Nik Lewis even mentioned during the season that Glenn is the MVP of the Calgary Stampeders. I just don't think it is fair that Drew Tate becomes the starting QB late in the season even though he only played a couple of games. I know there are saying that you shouldn't lose your spot because of the injuries but I think this is an exception. I have to admit that when we picked up Kevin Glenn from Hamilton Tigercats in a trade with Burris, I wasn't so happy. I was not a big fan of Kevin Glenn back then. I always thought the guy choked when the going gets tough, throw some interceptions at the wrong time so why would the Stamps pick him up. He proved me wrong though. Since he took over from Tate early last season, he's been fantastic..not a 100% but he does the job. This season he is so much better and cuts down his mistakes. The guy is even playing with injury-riddled Offensive Line. I wouldn't even be cared if Drew Tate gets ticked off and demand a trade next season. I know Hufnagel knows so much better than I do but I am hoping he stays with Glenn as a starting QB the rest of the season.

Tough call. Remember his absolutely brutal clock management on the last drive in the loss to BC? That's the sort of mistake that a veteran QB simply should not make, and while Glenn consistently gives the Stampeders a chance to win every game, he's hardly a great closer. At this point, down 5 with a minute left on the clock in a must-win game, I'd bring in BLM.
And while I'm okay with Glenn starting the rest of the way for the Stampeders, I don't see how Huff outright confirming this will make Glenn play better. It will 'free him up to explode down the stretch', as Dunigan says? Some guys play better knowing their the #1. Some guys play better with competition. Based on what we've seen the last couple years, the stiff competition and needing to prove himself against a couple young 'uns every week is part of the reason he's playing so well right now. You help this team win, you keep your job.
