I went to the Saddledome one last year. It was pretty basic -- walked a bit of the concourse, then down to the event level where the zamboni's are (could take a picture on it if you wanted). Saw the ref's dressing room, and the wives lounge. Think that was it. Got some free swag as well.

We went to a few sites last year and it was fun! I'd love to do it this year, but our weekend is a bit busy. Just wish the website wasn't so crappy - I hate the format of the website this year, so clunky and hard to view (I hate having to expand every single site I want to read about).
NSFL - is the Sports Hall of Fame tours full yet? I'd love to come see it.

|
That's what I said to my wife. We better get to sit in the bus because my kids are jacked about it. If not, the kids are going to be screaming bloody murder.

I'm going to tell you, if they sit in the bus they're going to scream bloody murder, those things leak like sieves and they're going to get soaked.
Then again, children enjoy that sort of thing....so theres that.
I dont get the attraction of just watching the Scruffy the Buswasher just drive a bus though the buswash. You'd better get to be in it.

We went to the C-Train maintenance facility (the one up in the NE) last year. Particularly cool for the kids (especially riding the train through the wash), but interesting for all ages, very interesting to see the crazy maintenance setup. This year we're going to try the fire training academy.

Nope, not yet. Most are pretty close, but the 1 pm tours are still half empty.
Or half full.

I worked on the HVAC at Oliver Bowen. Its a pretty cool building if you ask me. Fairly massive, and I believe they still have plans to expand the C-train storage area east to the side-street. It would be on my list for sites to see. I hope the 'dome gets in for the tours next year, be neat to see all new stuff in the lower bowl area.

The expansion to the building is done, track laying up to it is underway.

The family went to the Oliver Bowen ctrain facility this afternoon and it was pretty interesting. However, the website says the tour is 30 min but it was actually 90 min. The kids got pretty bored for the first half but the second half included a ride on a ctrain and going through the wash. I would recommend this for something to do next year and its free.

We just finished our 3 tours for the day. I'm always surprised at the demand for things like this. We ended up with a waiting list for the remainder of the tours.
Where has everyone gone?

I wonder if they'll let me drive one of the back-hoes or one of the bulldozers?
Also, for the good of public sanity they should end the tour by handing everyone a BB Gun and no one is allowed to leave until they've killed 10 seagulls. Do those stupid birds even understand how far away from the sea they are?

One of the most interesting tours I've done in Calgary was the Bonnybrook waste water treatment plant. I think the dump could actually be pretty interesting.
