This is the type of game that would have gotten managers sacked in the past.
4-0 embarrassment in the darby.

I have seen a few people mention Neil Lennon as well, I don't think he leaves Celtic for a team mid-season

I think Di Matteo would be a decent choice for the black cats.
I know the tv money in the EPL dwarfs the scottish leagues but I don't think Lennon would leave Celtic unless a really big premier league team comes calling, he's pretty die hard about Celtic and I think it's a bit more than just another job to him, I think he'll either still be there in 10 years or get sacked because unless he wins something in europe, which is unlikely, the bigger teams aren't going to be interested and I just can't see him going to a mid or lower table EPL club from a smaller town like Sunderland.
Happy to see Di Canio get sacked, he is a massive tool with a huge ego IMO.
Shaping up to be a great season so far, hope it stays interesting all year, having new teams in the mix for the league lead is great.

Neil Lennon isn't going anywhere, he has gone through so much just to keep that job and be accepted.

Why? Is Sunderland's local rugby team also looking for a new manager?

Sunderland need to start worrying about survival. Di Matteo is a bit like Tony Mowbray, but Sunderland need someone who will scrap for points, not play beautiful football and get relegated.

Oh Brendan....lol. "Suarez 'Champing at the bit' to get back in the lineup."
Really? Did he bite anyone in training?

I was watching the review today and they're constantly using Di Canio's celebration as practically stock footage...did he seriously only win 2 games in charge of Sunderland?
That guy is a Grade A lunatic.

Shocking details coming out about his time in charge. No eye contact allowed by the ground staff to the players on match days, stuff like that.
I believe he won three out of thirteen matches at Sunderland, but he did lead them to victory away at Newcastle in his second match. They hadn't won there in over a decade, and that was a big deal to the Sunderland supporters.
Word out of the papers in Ireland is that di Canio told the players to go to the board if they didn't like his style of management. John O'Shea led a group of senior players to a meeting with the board, who promptly sacked di Canio. Priceless stuff.

many many changes for United today. De Gea, Smalling and Rooney are the only ones in the lineup who also played vs City, finally there's Kagawa, Nani and Hernandez ... Jones/Giggs in CM gives me nightmares though. For Liverpool, Suarez makes his return from suspension.
United: De Gea; Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Büttner; Nani, Jones, Giggs, Kagawa; Rooney, Hernandez.
Subs: Anderson, Carrick, Welbeck, Fabio, Zaha, Amos, Januzaj.
Liverpool: Mignolet; Toure, Sakho, Skrtel, Enrique; Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard, Moses; Suarez, Sturridge.
Subs: Jones, Alberto, Aspas, Sterling, Ibe, Kelly, Wisdom.

Spurs did not quit themselves well today. Townsend booked for a blatant dive in the first half, and then Vertonghen took a dive on 50 minutes that got Torres booked. He hadn't even touched him! What is worse is that the linesman was not more than five yards away and called the foul on Torres. Disgraceful stuff.

Townsend was a dive and was rightly booked, Vertonghen got his ankle clipped but seemed to keep going then went down (it was only shown in slow motion so I don't know if it was a delayed reaction or a dive)
Torres deserved a red for scratching Vertonghen so if the 2nd yellow was a make up call so to speak I am fine with that
Jose complaining about Vertonghen needing to be suspended is fantastic though, it's like he forgets he managed Didier "I go down like a sniper hit me twice a game" Drogba
