Just wondering if people think Ferland makes the squad and plays in some of the first 9 games? He has certainly impressed alot of folks on this site at the Young stars and now in camp!

He'd be on my team... But so would Monahan, Reinhart, Sieloff, Wotherspoon and Granlund.

He can play more than 9 games if management wants. He already burned a year off his ELC last season.
I'd love to see him make the club. I'd love to see a fourth line of Ferland-Bouma-McGratton to start the season. Trade Jackman or put him on waivers I say.

I would like to see that line also. As for Jackman i have no problem if he sits in the pressbox either. Someone will be riding pressbox and i rather him than one of the youngsters.
Plus it would be nice to see only $550,000 sitting in the pressbox instead of players making $2+million.

oh yes forgot about that! Would also like to see a Ferland, Bouma, McGrattan line! Perhaps with Ferland seeing spot duy on the third line if he continues to impress.

Not sure who he was, young, blond hair.

I just checked the flames roster, it was Corbin Knight that I walked by.
Just sayin'.

I enjoy the idea that the Flames will give a roster spot to one if not two prospect skaters to start the season, the question is who? Let's say it's Ferland because CP posters are impressed with his turnaround/development jump over the off season; it sounds like Ferland has practiced some NHL quality offensive zone rattle & shakes and has the talent to finish his opportunities, so with over-the-top optimism lets say he becomes a dark horse Calder candidate. With so many other guys within the organization chomping at the bit knowing they could play at ___Ferland's____ level it could drive a very competitive streak in all of our horses. Baertschi's still qualifies for the Calder I think (he should be a favorite if I was on a panel) and Granlund looks like he's outgrown junior level competition, so it sets a bar for up and coming talent that isn't just 'organizationally' good, it's legit NHL good. As a fan, this is what I'm hoping for.

A little happy/sad that I wasn't at the presser to be included in the clip.

So it sounds that based on conversations with the coaching staff, Roger is convinced Monahan will make the team. Another poster here claimed an inside source of theirs also said he's on. No real indication the other way so far.
A lot of camp yet, but to me it sounds like the spot is now his to lose. So if he maintains his level of play and continues his efforts in all three zones, I don't think it matters if he pots a whole bunch of goals in the exhibitions (he might anyway), he'll probably make the cut.
This excites me if the top minds think so far that he's ready. However, the new sheriff in town Burkie might have something to say about it. He's got that history of moving prospects along slowly. If he recommends to Feaster that he be kept in the OHL despite camp, will Jay obey?

That line would be one of the worst 4th lines in the NHL....

Does anyone know why Drew MacKenzie isn't in camp? He signed a 2 year AHL deal last fall and was apart of prospect development camp in July. Seems odd considering every other player on an AHL deal is in camp.
Is he injured? Get a contract elsewhere and get out of his AHL deal?
I only noticed because McKelvie is wearing the same #63 that MacKenzie was wearing in development camp.

Going to make a final center group prediction.. (no order in particular)
Backlund
Galliardi
Monahan
Stajan
Bouma and Horak (both Cs) will see time with the club this year, maybe in call up situations but I see both playing wing if they're not filling in for one of the centers. Would like to see Horak full time here, but it would have to be on the wing.
Galliardi is playing too well in the middle so far that I think they're gonna want to keep him there. It's good and bad, as I hope this isn't going to end up pushing Monahan out.

Has anyone been down to Winsport to watch since things started up yesterday?
We've been missing camp updates for several days now.
