I was most pleased with how he would always go into the corners hard. I had heard he was a good two way player but I think my quebecois bias didn't really believe it. He is as hard nosed as anyone out there. It's too bad he didn't get too many shifts to really show his stuff tonight because of all the penalties, was just kind of an odd game overall.

Shoo! Get outta here.
Shinkaruk's a small, bratty punk that won't be able to stand up for himself in the NHL. He's actually perfect for the Canucks. I think we'll stick with the bigger, faster and grittier Poirier.

"CalPuck crashed"

Canucks fans obsess over these 2 picks. Flames fans shouldn't.

Since when did we care what Canuck fans think?

Sorry guys my phone was powered off all night, otherwise I would have kept y'all up to date. Crazy ex kept trying to call me and it was draining my battery.
Anyways..
- Brodie and Wotherspoon - looks like our future top pairing.
- Berra goes down too fast.
- Solid effort by Baertschi and Poirier.
Next up, a game at the Dome this December.

Hanowski didn't fight. Stajan, McGrattan, Sieloff, and O'Brien did.
Quote:
“That’s why I’m on the team, to stick up for my teammates,” McGrattan said. “(The fact Sdao is trying to earn a job) doesn’t matter. I don’t care if you’re 20 years old, 30 years old, you’ve gotta learn. You can’t do that.
“Teams are just going to have to learn — they won’t be doing that anymore.”

Shinkaruk's goal wasn't all that great. Defenseman gave him all the time in the world and the goalie had an absolutely brutal angle, his shoulders were a foot off the crossbar and he is a sub 6ft goalie to begin with. nice release but lots of guys would have buried that with the amount of time he had. Garret blew a load on the play but once we watch the replays a few times it wasn't anything great.
if Shinkaruk isn't shooting he isn't doing anything else. Weak on the boards and in the corners and plays like he is still in the juniors. He'll get destroyed one of these days.
Any word of how Cundari played?

Sean Monahan = Jonathan Toews? More like Sean Couturier.

How did they confuse Jim O'Brien for Brian McGrattan? I don't think Jim O'Brien is even a scrapper. That is putrid work by the Canadian Press.
Not to mention them spelling Jarome wrong

Georges Laracque was the worst enforcer of all time because he fought super heavyweights only. What McGrattan did tonight (and I suspect he does again during preseason) is send a message to all 29 teams that if you take liberties with our small forwards he will be coming after you. Regardless of whether or not fighting is your job.
I imagine Kevin Bieksa will think twice before he gives Mike Backlund a cheapshot in front of the net if Big Ern is out there...

I doubt that he will but it will be fun watching McGrattan fight this year and since wins/losses don't matter if he takes some stupid Instigator penalties no big deal.
But this still is a league with rules and refs so it isn't like McGrattan will have free reign to kill anyone who takes a shot at Flames players.

I'm pretty sure only super heavyweights wanted to fight Laraque. I can think of far worse enforcers of all time.

Here are some highlights... those goals do not look good on Berra. Includes a bit of McGratton destroying the guy.
