Standouts for the Flames... David Jones was a man on a mission. Reinhart made a ton of excellent plays, Knight looked sharp as well. Cundari, Brodie and Wotherspoon looked good on the blueline.
Berra looked good at time and weak at others, want to see more consistency from him.

People were complaining about his play on HF, then suddenly he scores and all is good.
"CalPuck crashed"
"I feel sorry for the Flames"
Canucks fans obsess over these 2 picks. Flames fans shouldn't.

Agreed. I really don't want to see a post everyone time Shinkaruk does something. Draft is over, let's move on.

Just left the game. Was entertained by a very sloppy preseason game. It is very difficult to really analyze the team game this early in the preseason, but it's pretty clear that this was a team that had not played much together.
The good:
Josh Jooris: was all over the ice all night, great forechecking, created chances and was very strong in keeping possession.
Sven Baertchi: If the rest of the team had any finish tonight he would have had 3-4 assists, he just kept setting up golden chances every shift. Best game of the preseason/prospect camp so far for him.
Brodie: solid as you would expect, nothing wrong with his game at all tonight.
Wotherspoon: didn't make a mistake all night from what I saw, him and Brodie were definitely the best pair out there.
The bad:
OBrien: for a very rookie defence, it's embarrassing that he was by far th biggest liability out there. Slowest man on the back end, directly at fault for 2 ga.
Berra: looked like a Henrik Karlsson clone to me, went down way too early, Ottawa just kept going high on him. Expect him to be with the Heat.
Monahan and Poirier both had average games, I was happy with Knight, and Sieloff had moments that I really liked. Big Ern had an awesome fight.
I'll try to answer questions about the other guys.

Play by play of Big Ern's fight? Sounds like he murdered him.

Sorry, I hope that didn't come off as an attack on you. I guess I'm getting overly-sensitive about any Shinkaruk updates

We weren't even the team that passed on him immediately before the Canucks picked.
For whatever reason, Flames fans get mocked for constantly talking about him, but from my experience, we aren't the ones that start these arguments. We should just stay out of them and they will get no satisfaction.

Very much this. Several teams other than the Flames passed on him and another team after we picked. Why aren't they saying those guys effed up?

Ya I'm over that kid. The flames have valued hockey sense these past few drafts... But also have targeted good characterd kids and he seems like a good one dimensional player with an average attitude. I guess a few years down the line we will see.

I was in the Canucks end during the warmup against the flames in Penticton and I noticed this one Canuck showboating the whole time and skating around like an arrogant peacock. I looked up his number to see who he was, yeah Shinkaruk.

I was initially upset about missing out on shinkaruk, but I didn't know a heck of a lot about him TBQH.
After hearing the reasoning (Poirier is top 3 lines or bust, Shinkaruk is top 2 lines or bust), with Shinkaruk's size I feel like the right choice was made.
Funny that just because Shinkaruk is from the Calgary area they should draft him. From the sounds of it, he didn't even like the Flames.

Total beatdown. Stajan kind of lost his so Sens fans were taunting a bit around me, then McGratton just had the most dominating fight I've seen since Boogard was still around, and the Sens fans kind of went silent after that. Was sweet redemption for the scoreboard, that's for sure. All right hooks, just kept at it even as the Sens player was on his way down. Stopped as soon as he hit the ice.
