lol so the deal with Philly was just to scare the wings? Maybe show them that other teams are interested in over paying for him so he'll give them a deal at 1.75?

Cleary must really love Detroit to give up the contract that Philly gave.
The only thing i can think of for him saying no to Philly was that maybe he only got the contract if he made final cut at training camp.

Red Wings are over the cap and don't really have an easy fix to get under. Could be a chance for the Flames to use their cap space to get an asset for a contract.

Detroit's been a retirement community for years, but they still find ways to make it happen. They do need to find some replacements for Zetterberg, Datsyuk and Lidstrom soon though. Not that those players can be easily replaced, but they have to come somewhat close or they are looking a pretty bad and rapid downward spiral.
