Guess it doesn't matter this year, not like we need the cap space to land a key piece, and maybe Kipper wouldn't hold out this long if we did, but frick, I get he has to take his time and figure it out for him, but there is also another party involved. How about you show a little respect to the organization that has allowed you to live the life you lead, that has allowed you to be in a postion to take all summer long and not have to answer to anyone on your career and let them know what you are doing so they can plan accordingly..
The way I read it, the holdup is with the Flames, not Kipper. The Flames either really want him to return so they can still have that marquee guy in their lineup or they just want to make it look like they aren't doing a cap circumvention (probably the latter). Whatever the case may be, Kipper told them he is retiring and the Flames were talking to him to see if he would reconsider it and they can wait until the start of camp to make things official.

He did let them know the answer. Its the Flames that aren't making anything official till Kiprusoff signs the retirement papers.

I was at his last game where all the fans were cheering "KIPPER, KIPPER, KIPPER"

It was pretty intense..

Rollie Cyr was on BT this AM and accidently (i think) mentioned how the team is ready to go forward without Kipper and Iginla etc...this was after deliberately not saying that earlier in the interview.

Not far fetched to think Kipper wants a) another year added on plus some signing bonus to make up for low pay this year and b) some guarantee that he plays his 60+ games. Otherwise he is happy retiring.

Conroy makes it look like the flames are like that annoying guy who keeps asking the girl out in hopes she finally relents and says "yes".

More like the guy who says:
Flames - "Would you go out with me?"
Kipper - "N-"
F - "DON'T ANSWER NOW! You think about it! Take all the time you need!"
K - "But I d-"
F - "Hahahaha now now pretty lady! No need to say anything!"

*reads the news that Kipper told his Finnish buddies he didnt want to go out with the Flames, but they wouldn't take no for an answer*

F - "Oh well like, he's thinking about it, we knew he'd say that if we pressured him so that's why we're totally, like, easy going man!"

*nervous laughter*

This is like an awful John Hughes movie, except instead of some heart warming conclusion and some commentary about how hard it is to be a teen, we'll just have Ramo.

I don't think the bolded part is true at all. This is all on Kipper and what he wants to decide. Personally i think the flames have moved on, and i don't think Feaster wants to hear the words " I'm coming back".

Pretty much. With the guys the Flames have signed right now, Kipper's return would only complicate things. But they aren't going to throw him under the bus. He's a long time, well respected member of the organization and he has a contract for next year. The team isn't going to say anything publicly that would create friction if he does decide to come back. That's why you're getting the non-committal responses from the org. This is all Kipper's call.

So let me get this straight, the theory here is that the Flames are refusing to let Kipper sign his retirement papers? This is what is holding this up? I have a tough time believing it.

What I would believe is that Kipper has told the Flames he's retiring, but has not taken the steps to sign his papers, because "he's Kipper". And because of this, the Flames are refusing to announce anything until he does, which totally makes sense. If this is the case, then the Flames are in the right and Kipper needs to get his #### together.

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Zero Dark Thirty-Four update. Joni Ortio says Kiprusoff is in Calgary. He also added about Miikka, "He's a really hard guy to get hold of."

I suspect then that Kiprusoff wants to see how he does in the preseason games before making a real call. Or he's here to make his retirement official.

Either way, this solves nothing

Why does someone have to be in the right? To appease you? Sounds like both sides are fine with the current path they are taking now.

As much as I love Kipper, it's time for the Flames to move on.

I don't think he'll make a difference this year either way.

Nope, not to appease me. I don't get the impression the Flames are alright with it, I'm sensing frustration on there end, but they are being politically correct.

The positioning and tone provide by the Feaster, Conroy, etc.. when being interviewed. It is clear they are "waiting" on Kipper to tell them what the heck is going on, 0 sense that the two parties are working this out together.

Conroy's comment was in response to a question from Warrener. The vibe of it was jokey as they both have played with Kipper and know what he's like.

It's at the end of the segment:
