His ban was lifted on Sunday, October 1 1995. Get your facts straight before accusing me of being full of rubbish. The match was originally scheduled for a 3:00pm kick-off on September 30, but Sky asked the EPL to push the match back to Sunday so that Cantona could play.

Well then the assertion that Sky requesting the game be changed to a Sunday so that Cantona could play is rubbish. Whether or not the game was played on a Saturday or Sunday Cantona was eligible to play.

Changing the game to a Sunday was NOT, (as you claimed) so that Cantona could play.

No, you clueless clown. His ban expired at Midnight Friday 30th September/ SATURDAY 1st October.

Takes a special one to post the same garbage twice.

So, I repeat, the match was not rescheduled so that Cantona could play.

So .... about getting your facts straight.

"clueless clown".....classy. You seem angry for some reason. Anyway, I don't even need to look it up because I remember watching the match on a rainy Dublin day at my local GAA clubhouse pub. They didn't open on Saturdays back then, so I distinctly remember the match being played on a Sunday. Cantona's ban expired at midnight on Saturday, September 30.

Here you go bro, it was the first link on google when you search "Cantona comeback match Liverpool"

Premier League - Sunday October 1, 1995;
Old Trafford, att: 34,934
Manchester United 2 Liverpool 2

Now, I'm new to the board here and I'm not looking to cause trouble, but I would appreciate an apology seeing as how we all know that October 1, 1995 fell on a Sunday, not a Saturday.

Are you seriously this dumb? Nobody is disputing when the match was played. His ban was lifted at midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning, meaning the day it was played is meaningless.

Can you either start contributing around here or get lost? There are a few pain in the ass posters in this forum, but you are quickly rising to the top of the list.

The ban wasn't lifted until the midnight on the Saturday night, or more accurately, Sunday morning. That is the whole point - Cantona couldn't have played on the Saturday, and that is why Sky asked for the match to be re-scheduled.

I could come back at you with a personal comment, but there really isn't any need for that kind of thing, thank you very much.

Provide a source please, your track record, although short, does not give you an ounce of credibility.

Once again ......... absolute rubbish.

Cantona's suspension expired on a Saturday am at 00:01. That is SATURDAY 1st October 2005.

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/weekday.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_2005
http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/weekday-saturday-1
http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/...005&country=27

There is NO SUCH DATE as Sunday 1st October 2005.

Prove it or stop posting rubbish. I repeat. The game was not moved to accomodate Cantona's return from suspension.

Sweet Jebus. Are you seriously incapable of googling "2005 calendar" and interpreting the results to determine what day the 1st October fell on?

We're talking 1995, not 2005. Cantona was long retired by October 1 2005.

Apology time brother.

Not really, but I don't like anybody likes being asked if they are "really that dumb". It just isn't a nice way to speak to another person.

I love the anger. I really wish I could see the look on your face when you realize that we're talking about 1995, not 2005. Will you be man enough to apologize?

Fair play to you Bagor.

cam_wmh, you're absolutely right. I was wrong about Michael Carrick. He's the best midfield play on one of the world's best teams, of that there can surely be no doubt.
