First off, I am honoured to be the one that suggested AC be acknowledged as the "Resident Videologist" many, many years ago. He is simply awesome!!! And I will always remember his key contribution to making the Jiri Fischer CP signing happen.
On this issue though, Photon alluded to having more than one song for goals, while Flash alluded as to why it wouldn't happen.
Bottom line, they SHOULD have multiple songs, as should every NHL team. Negotiations with the various licensing parties should readily allow that especially if you are in a position to broaden the base for more songs to be authorized, thus compensating more artists/song writers/publishers, etc.
If I am Flames GM, I would want to do three things with each goal song:
- Incite the crowd
- Incite your team
- Deflate the opposition
I question how the SAME song played for every goal could effectively do this. Would it not reason that different songs played at different times during different overall scores be more logical?
There are a lot of songs that have been suggested that would have a positive impact for the Flames at various points in the game; and likely many others yet to be suggested. Why focus on just one?
Again, from a licensing perspective, you tell them that yes, we MAY play your song, and if so, here is what we will pay. If they decline, fine. Don't play their song. But negotiate, and don't play the same damn thing every time, in every circumstance.
