Cassie Campbell has a young daughter. At least with CBC for most of the year she only works weekends. I'm not sure if she would want to be on the road with the team all season.

I swear to all the Hockey Gods, if this happens I will never listen to the Fan ever again. Peter deserves far better than this.

Mike Rogers I thought worked very well with Peter, always felt like they made a great team. I will never forget hearing Rogers yelling "yeah!!"in the background while Maher went nuts with the ya babies when we beat Detroit in 04. Very fond memory.

That's who came to my mind; the lads on Fan960 mentioned him as well.
Will miss Mike Rogers and his "straightupedness" (I know; not really a word).

Mike Rogers had a pretty interesting story on Rhett Warraner during the 2004 cup run. Its on the Fan 960 website.

I would agree, there is a reason he is out of a full time media gig.

"Yes, the decision to put Cammy on the opposite wing on that draw was a gutsy one by the coach."
"Very Gutsy performance by the Zamboni driver during the intermission."
I am pretty sure when you are an ex-clam athlete hired by CBC, the training manual they hand you is just 130 pages of the word 'gutsy performance' stylistically written Jack Torrance style because someone at CBC things it is the greatest term ever.
If they hire her, I'll boycott the Flames, sell all my belonings, quit my job, and leave the city forever. Please god no.
|
Well, when you put it that way, Cassie does sound like the right person for the job.

Well. I think they will need to help Peter Maher. He's 65 and Mike Rogers helped him a ton. Peter appearantly could not even carry all the equipment he had last season. Kerr is a selfish guy so he won't help so I predict Krahn or Ryan Pinder too. He will babysit Maher and do most of the work.

Peter Loubardias has more hockey knowledge in his pinky than all the Sportsnet personalities combined.

I thought Pepper was terrible. I think the best way to go is to get someone with lots of experience and if possible Flames alumni. Can't really think of anyone though. Steve Konroyd? Maybe Terry Crisp?

I agree, Peter is the man for knowledge but he's way over-the-top in enthusiasm. He's like the autistic kid talking about science or math only it's hockey.

some former Flames that are currently involved in NHL boroadcasting to some degree.
Jamie McLennan
Chris Dingman
Ken Sabourin
Terry Crisp
Stu Grimson
Steve Konroyd
Dingman, Sabourin and Grimson all do radio currently, so the chance to do TV could lure them in. I have no idea how good they are though.

Rebuild Hockey is a tough sell for anyone. The youth and enthusiasm of the new team gets you to game 10, before you realize there's a lot more Chris Chuckos vs. Logan Coutures in our cupboards.
He will be missed, always have this perception he wasn't enough company for the company.

I'm not sure if its been brought up in this thread yet, but I think this is a good time to point out what an amazing job Peter Maher has done in Calgary.
