She and I arrived at the rink at the same time, I was actually driving beside her down 16th. That girl plays with her hair, a lot. lol She's also still got Manitoba plates, gotta get on that, Ms Hallet.
When we got there, we came in, and I introduced her to my kids while we took the elevator together. Lemme tell ya.... she looks even better in person.

Who do you consider "most scouts"? Waiting to see your evidence.

I would consider a scout to be someone that watched the guy play and didn't judge him to be the worst player in the WHL. Kanzig played against some very talented players today, and from all accounts he did VERY well. Certainly doesn't sound like someone who was the worst player in the WHL last year.

Here is my evidence that Kanzig was ranked #90 by most scouts. Obviously not talking about NHL teams, because we clearly have no access to that data.

The sources for the consensus list are Bob McKenzie, Future Considerations, ISS, The Hockey News, Craig Button, Corey Pronman of Hockey Prospectus, and The Scouting Report. If Gaudreau had been 6'1 at the 2011 draft, he would of been a top 3 pick.
How sweet would if be if he panned out to be a Claude Giroux type guy. Small when he was drafted, grows a couple inches, packs on some muscle, and controls games.
Fingers Crossed.

Glad that people are keen on Kanzig. But did everyone miss the play where he got beat on the inside by hanowski, subsequently grabbed the him and hanowski got a penalty shot? It didn't result in a goal but he got beat badly. Like babchuk bad.
Not trying to rain on the parade but trying to temper.expectations. kanzig really is a work in progress. Exciting regardless.

If I could add to that, I was shocked by his physical play. He got into it with someone right on the glass close to where I was and ended up with him getting a stick to the head and just shook it off and went after the guy more.
One HUGE thing I noticed though was Horak seemed to be stepping up as a leader with Group A. One of the firsts on the ice for warm-ups, he was being extremely vocal giving the guys directions and getting them set up and he was running the final drill at the end of warm-ups.
While his game itself wasn't one of his better ones for looking flashy, he seems to be stepping up in other ways and just rounding himself out as a player.
And holy cripes is Berra and Kanzig just towers. First goalie where the pads don't look proportional to his body. I will admit, I have some Berra love right now just on size alone.

Kanzig is one of the youngest guys at the camp playing against far more experienced and talented players. We all know he is still years away from being NHL ready, should he ever even get to that point.
What amazes us is that despite all that he has been remarkably good. Almost all the posters that were there mentioned something positive about Kanzig. Yes, he is big, yes you notice him because of his size....but he was getting a lot of positive comments about his skating, positioning, hockey smarts, leadership, etc, etc.
Again, doesn't sound like someone that was one of the worst players in the WHL last year.

Agreed. i usually think she's not bad, but today-DAMN. i got distracted by her a few times, once when she was ballet dancing on the sidelines there for a few seconds.

Agree with most takes I read above ...
Loved Monahan today after not being all that impressed with his ice session on Thursday. Gaudreau was great again.
Thought Ferland took a step back today which was too bad, more of that laziness again.
The two plugger guys that haven't been mentioned (that I've seen) are Eddy and Elson, loved both of their games today, they really got in and on the less experienced red "D" and caused havoc. Elson especially has sand paper written all over him. I could see him carving a place down the road.
Was thinking like many that Baertschi wasn't doing much early and wondered how much of that was rust, and how much was a deeper prospect pool. Was pleased to see him turn it on.
My first viewing of Jankowski and came away unimpressed. Clearly looks physically bigger than last summer but he just didn't create anything when he was on the ice.
Agostino didn't do much either which was a shame after reading all the good comments from you guys this week. He got rocked on his first shift though and wonder if he was banged up.

I think the amount of praise heaped on this kid is that most on here had no idea who this kid was when he was taken in the 3rd round, and a some who claimed to actually have seen him play gave horrifying reviews of his game, which scared most into thinking Kanzig was a huge reach and almost a waste of a pick in the third.
Nobody expected much, and that there seems to be an upside with lots of raw potential in the works has people excited. I myself, based on other posters reports on draft day, had imagined a monster guy who skated like the guy from the movie "Goon". I'm pleasantly surprised that's not the case, but understand there is lots of work to do before he makes it.

I was most surprised by Kanzig - skated much better and faster than I was expecting (though I was expecting pylon-ish speed).
Positionally-sound except on that one play he was beat wide by Hanowski, but impressive none-the-less. And he was crunching lots of bodies along the boards. I went to see Gaudreau, Sven, Mono and Janko, but was most impressed by Kanzig.
On a side note, that handi-capped person was making some awesome play-by-plays..."STOPPED BY BERRA!! AGAIN!!"
