The Flames do not want to pay Raymond to be anything other than a top 9 winger.
Right now, in those spots (in no particular order):
Baertschi
Cammalleri
Hudler
Stempniak
Jones
Glencross

They also have Horak, who could make the team or start in the minors, and Galiardi who could move up to 3rd line, but likely starts on the 4th line.

So I see 6-8 top 9 wingers, predominantly left sided too.

Raymond only fits if a trade is made and/or Baertschi is demoted

If he is in for 1.5 or less.. I give him 2-3 years. We still need a forward, more so a Center, but if we can't get one.. a cheap Raymond or Cheap Brunner would be awesome.

I think that Feaster was trying to make some deals to ship out some wingers and then sign Raymond after Raymond came to them. But he wasn't able to finalize those deals so there's no room for Raymond now

Would love to see have his speed but there is no room in the lineup.
Playing Baertschi in the top 6 is far more important and I think giving Horak a fair shot is far more important too.

I'd really like to see Horak with the big club to start the year. He's a versatile player, responsible defensively and works his tail off.

Raymond only makes sense if a similar player is moved out.

Why would you think that? Sounds like he wasn't in the Flames plans at all and had his agent contact the Flames.

The longer Raymond takes to get a deal the better for the Flames, IF there is any intent to sign. A sub 1M contract for a year or two would be great and obviously motivate him to play better.

yeah Barry has to lie there, it's in the best interest of his client. If it becomes accepted as fact a bottom feeder like us turned him down flat it will kill his value on the open market.

As far as no interest from the Flames, I'm glad, I just don't see what he adds to this team in our state.

I think there was a deal with Raymond but since it was leaked before FA period started, the deal was dead as they didn't want to run into tampering charges. Cannot recall another team outside of DET and Alfie where the deal was announced prior to 12 E.S.T on the 5th.

Maybe a week or two from now there will be something again.

Besides, I still want them to sign Mueller over anyone else in the FA market.
