Glad he's staying in the East. I don't want to play him too often. That'd just be weird...

Iginla will never resign in Calgary! What's done is done! Get over it.

He might be a better fit in Boston, though his attention to the defensive side of the game has been erratic in past years, and that needs to be corrected if he wants to get and then stay in coach Claude Julien’s good books.
Duhatschek coming out and saying something that people on this board get roasted for - that Iginla neglects the defensive side of the game, to the dismay of his coaches - is interesting.

Playing strong without the puck is not optional in Boston. Iginla will sit on the bench if he doesn't change his habits of the last 5-6 years.

One can dream.
So you want the Bruins to beat the Flames in Game 7? Weird, thought you were a flames fan?

Could really improve his game (and money making potential) going forward if he picks up some of these good habits.

Gets roasted for saying?

Sorry, who hasn't said that or agreed to it on this forum. That's generally accepted.

Come on now MMF. Let the Iginla naysayers have their moments, however fleeting. It's gotta be tough for them to see guys like Lucic and Bergeron and Chiarelli demonstrate a certain degree of deference to Iginla after the naysayers on here have spent so long on this board trying desperately to drive his value down and expose him for the obviously overpaid and overhyped player he is.

Its to bad more free agents/new contracts weren't based on performance. This could be a huge year for Iginla, not only is it another chance at a cup, where he gets to play a full season with a team (on his preferred wing) but to get that extra $$$ he has to preform well.

Fairly interesting that a player of his ilk and storried past would even consider bonuses. Chiarelli may just be GM of the year when this is all over.

LOL. If you even have questioned Iggy's D effort or any part of his game in the last couple of years you have been roasted or labelled an "Iggy hater".

I hope this new contract really motivates him. Would LOVE to see Iggy get back into the 40 goal range, and get a shot at the cup.

After he wins his cup, hope he signs for a final season to retire a Flame. #pipedream

He only has to play 10 games to get his contract up to $5.5 million. As far as i am concerned he only has $500,000 in incentive bonus money to play for.

No, lol.

It's well known Iginla's game has eroded, partly due to his age, partly due to the country club atmosphere that seems to have festered in the Flames locker room (to which he was a part of the problem) but no one has ever been roasted for making fair evaluations of his game.

It's the hyperbole and over-the-top hate that people would get roasted for, it's the ridiculous posters that only talk about Iginla, bash him at every opportunity, then claim they are "over him". Stuff like that gets you roasted.

Besides, Duha was being pretty gently in that quote CliffFletcher used.

To me using this quote to say the below is a little funny.

Duha said Iginla's play has been erratic and that he needs to correct this. That's a flimsy reason to be patting yourself on the back and knocking posters.

Cripes.

The erosion of Iginla's game, particularly on the defensive side, is well documented with few that disagree.

Hardly an uncommon opinion or one that would cause someone to be "roasted".

Some quick notes from the presser:

- Iginla says he didn't even talk with the Penguins because of their cap/salary situation
- Meehan called the Bruins after it was apparent Alfredsson was signing with the Red Wings
- Chiarelli wanted Alfredsson or Iginla
- Chiarelli gives Iginla props for allowing them to structure the contract the way they did
- Iginla says there were no talks with the Flames for a possible return

And then he'll sign with LA the following year, and Chicago the year after that. If that doesn't work, he'll just make an offer to the league to purchase the Stanley Cup outright.
