A number of the individual players on the roster are "trending up", but it is hard to see how the miss-mash that Lowe has cobbled together as a team is headed anywhere fast. I think they could be a playoff team this year, but there is still a long, LONG way to go before the Oilers can be considered resembling anything close to a Cup contender.
Personally, I can't imagine why Iginla would ever choose to sign there. His playing days will be over long before the Oilers are ever ready to compete, and one would have to think that winning is his top priority at this stage in his career.

That said, if its down to just a couple teams (I think it is), a decision for him and his family, and the teams involved know to budget for him and know the offers that they have out there to him...and then its up to Jarome, the teams involved won't have to worry about some random team swooping in and offering him a tonne of money because its not about that at this point, its all about location for him and his family.

This all started at Noon Eastern so we are almost 3 hours into it.

I think Iginla is gonna let the first few days of free agency play out before he signs anywhere.

Where's Dater when you need him? He seems to have the "inside" info on the Iginla camp.

I respect that opinion and that may be so but I think the Oilers are a good #1 goalie away now from being a serious threat. Too much talent there....*barf*

LOL
Here's a link.
I think Odie has had a better record given the old rumors from the below link.

Haven't heard this every summer for too many years to count.
Summertime is the best time for Oiler fans.

Don't they have to wait until Luongo doesn't show up at camp to officially get him off the books?

He waits too long and teams will spend their cap space somewhere else.

My gut feeling is Iginla ends up in Edmonton.
Would love for him to end up in Ottawa though, like that team.

I'm starting to fear he will end up in Edmonton. Is he still dead to us if so?

Maybe he is confused and thinks its trade deadline day not free agency?

I don't see where he would play. Eberle and Yakupov are better then him and they play on the top 2 lines on the RW.
They still have Hemsky to trade on the RW as well.
Iginla will end up in LA or New York IMO.

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger 15s I'm told the Bruins are also talking to Jarome Iginla. Good scoop. Can't make this stuff up. #TSN

I'm not sure it's the goalie they are missing.
I think they need to fix their bottom 6, and get a #1 defense man. After that they should be a serious threat.
