I am going to quote this in 3-4 years when he puts up 80+ points for the Flames.

The Bruins attempted to deal Seguin to the Calgary Flames last weekend, but ultimately Flames ownership squashed any deals for the six-year, $5.75 million contract for Seguin while they go through a full rebuild with inexpensive, youthful players.
|
So Bruins tried to trade him to Calgary
Colorado made a trade with Calgary a week ago.
So much for all those people who thought Feaster ruined relationships with the O'Reily offersheet and "screwed" Boston over with Iginla. Especially the one poster who wondered if Boston even picks up the phone if he sees the 403 area code.

Honestly, good.
If you believe he will be a player, which many of us do, then you should overrate him. He's worth a lot more to us then anything we could probably get him for at this point.

I am not saying he isn't good, just not an elite player.

Yeah, we'll see how well Seguin does without a laundry list of star players to feed him the puck. Eriksson gets to go play with those same players that helped Seguin score all those points, while Seguin gets to go and play with... who the #### plays for Dallas anymore?

East coast fans who have no idea who Loui is are probably hating this trade for the Bs right now. They'll love it when they find out what a beauty he is.

If it didn't include Sven, Brodie, Monahan, then yes. But if not then it's a bit disheartening.

Yup, Called my father who's a huge Bruins fan, livid at the deal. Said he's never even heard of him.

Where are insinuations of hip and attitude problems coming from?

Big trade for both teams its nice to see a lot of smart hockey trades of late. Having Seguin in our line up sounds sexy but in reality Im happy the Flames passed and will build with what he have.

If the owners are willing to let Feaster offer big money to Bozak I'm sure they would be willing to use that same money on a player who isn't just a plug.
Yeah, pretty sure.

Except it wouldn't be just money to get Seguin. It's money next year. It's all the prospects/picks/players to get him PLUS the money next year.

Agreed. It has more to do with value for money and the crazy amount of talent the Bruins wanted for him.

That's not what the article said though. It seems to imply that ownership said no to Seguin because of his contract. Yet these same owners are perfectly willing to let Feaster talk to Bozak, who is supposedly looking for more money and more term despite being a fraction of the player.

I read the last part of that paragraph the other way...
"...while they go through a full rebuild with inexpensive, youthful players."
As in, they wanted to keep their inexpensive youthful players to help with a rebuild instead of trading them to Boston for Seguin.
Both points are probably part of the reasoning.
