That is not much, Dallas won this trade without a question. Erikkson wasn't even that good last year no longer having ribeiro, or Richards feeding him tap ins on the pp.
Boston is going to lose this trade and in the end be comparable to the Joe Thornton trade for Stuart, sturm, and Thornton.
At least that is how I see it.

lol. Erikksson a 2nd line winger, laughable. This is a very even, good hockey trade for both teams. Eriksson has a nice contract too.

Yea, Backlund and Gaudreau were not going to get us Seguin.

Writing was on the wall for Seguin. I figured something was up with him when he started growng that goatee early on in the season. Like, no 21 year old in their right mind does that! I suspect he had some attitude issues and wasn't happy playing on the wing under Julien.

To each there own. Seguin for all his "struggles" last year still put up a much better season then eriksson. To me it looks like eriksson needed ribiero or Richards to set him up. But I guess only time will tell.
His 36 goal campaign shows his shooting percentage was over 20% not only is that not sustainable, but that also leads me to believe that his centers set him up for a few gifts.
I am not saying he isn't good, just not an elite player.

Chiarelli should have told us we were getting Seguin and leaked it to the media before trading him to Dallas.

Offensively maybe, but Eriksson has a great 2 way game, one of the best 2 way wingers in the game. Before this shortened season he had 3 or 4 60-70 point seasons, that whole Dallas team this year really fell off though so it's no surprise his point totals were down. Like I said, this is a very good trade for both clubs. However I wouldn't be surprised in 5 or 6 years time if Dallas becomes the winner of this deal, Seguin is still only 21 and has time to improve.
However this improves Boston very well IMO.

Not that it would sway the trade much either way, but does anyone know much about Button, Smith or Fraser?

Seguin was playing with guys like Lucic, Marchand, Bergeron and Krejci, of course he's going to do better

Looks like a win for Dallas, to me... the 2 unknowns are...
1. extent of Seguin's hip issue
2. how Joe Morrow develops... if he ends up a Top 2 in Boston, then obviously this trade looks quite different.

They are offsetting from our perspective, but not from Boston's.
I like Glencross. Glad hes a Flame, hope he remains one for a long time. But for Boston, wanting to win right now, Eriksson is the better option. Even if you believe Gadreau is a superior prospect, that deal does not make the Bruins a better team right now than the Dallas one does.
The truth is, we were out of the running for Seguin before Feaster even picked up the phone.

Reilly Smith isn't a 3rd/4th line filler. He is actually a young player with quite a bit of offensive upside.
I really like the trade from Boston's perspective. Eriksson is arguably better than Seguin at this point, plus they add to solid young prospects (Smith and morrow)

Might have something to do with him just turning 21 this year.
Is a bar really going to be upset that a star pro athlete is demanding entry unless he's underage?

Article out of Boston:
http://www.csnne.com/blog/bruins-tal...y-traded-stars
Quote:
The 21-year-old Bruins forward was coming off a down season where he managed 16 goals and 32 points during an inconsistent regular season, and then was dropped to the third line during the playoffs while producing just a single goal in 22 games. Above and beyond the lackluster performance on the ice during the Stanley Cup playoffs, there were concerns about Seguin’s activity off the ice.
According to sources around the team, Seguin was out late in Toronto during the road trip to play the Leafs in the first round of the playoffs and the team had to hold a sit-down with the immature forward about his commitment to the team. Seguin showed up each day at the Air Canada Centre wearing the same clothes for three straight days and played badly in Games 3 and 4 of the first round against Toronto.
That incident coupled with stories of Seguin’s late night partying during the regular season prompted Peter Chiarelli to say that “[Seguin] needs to become more of a professional” during a tirade at draft weekend. The Bruins attempted to deal Seguin to the Calgary Flames last weekend, but ultimately Flames ownership squashed any deals for the six-year, $5.75 million contract for Seguin while they go through a full rebuild with inexpensive, youthful players.

Ray Whitney is more offensively gifted then anyone you mentioned. I assume he will be flanking Seguin. Not saying Whitney is better all around just that he has better vision at setting up team mates. Whitney has about 4 seasons in which he put up a higher point total than any of those guys you mentioned career seasons. ( krejci and bergeron have career years at 73 points one in 08 and the other in 06)

Funny that Marchand wasn't mentioned, as apparently he was out at the bar with Seguin 90% of the time.
