Isn't there even almost the same issue with the reservoirs? That they don't hold enough water to offer enough flood protection?

Let me preface this by saying that I already know that people are going thru much worse things, but just looking for suggestions or things that the City may be doing that I may not have heard about yet.

I live in the Vetro bldg beside Victoria Park Stampede stn, both our condo and Sasso have all their residents displaced.

I've been unofficially been told there's a very good chance that our parkade won't be ready for estimates ranging from weeks to months. I'm curious, what's a good alternative for us in terms of parking our car? I feel worried that with the Stampede coming around and with parking prices going up it's going to be a huge burden to have to park? And I've already been told, oh that's what your $1,250 displacement fee is for. Well our car was submerged underwater in the parkade and it's only 50% paid off so there's a decent chance our $ will have to go towards paying the difference to the dealership in terms of the write-off value and balance remaining.

Any tips, ideas, suggestions would be helpful! Subsidized parking, extending our area to parking zone C (even temporarily) for street parking would be great but not sure if the City would do the above.

Thanks all!

I read somewhere that school parking lots were being opened for people that can't use their street or parkade spots. You might want to take a look at that.

I know that the Arriva building is currently cleaning and sanitizing their parking levels, and have arranged to let residents park in the gravel lot directly east of the building.

I've got a gut feeling a lot of this is going to come down to how well the property managers handle their buildings.

My apartment management just let everyone know at my place in Mission that we should secure alternate accomodation for the next 4 weeks. They won't be taking rent but disappointing to say the least.

City says damage to city infrastructure is north of $250M. The zoo has suffered a catastrophic $50 million in damage ($60M according to the zoo) and will lose $10 million in revenue.

The $10 million in lost revenue is how the Zoo gets to $60 million in losses.

The zoo will open up in a limited fashion (stuff that is not on the island) on July 31st - and will not completely open until around November. I sure hope they aren't planning to charge full admission for just the penguins and Canadian Wilds.

This is a much better Stampede-themed song:

Oh, and I'm not sure that people realize that Paul Brandt's song is a cover of this:

Kind of annoying that we had just renewed our annual passes.

I heard we get half price admission to the Science Center instead, which is cool but really lost on my 2 youngest kids.

I'm assuming that they will have to do something with Annual passes, as the Zoo will barely be worth going to for 5 months.

Which is great unless you also have annual passes to the science center like we do.

Only if it involves an animatronic Michael Jackson and a giant inflatable globe.
