That he fights and is physical. Calling him a goon states that is all he can do. Judging by that article and a poster who is very familiar with him it appears he is a blueliner who can actually play defence too.

holy overreaction ... well, not too surprising.
and yay, let's judge defensive defensemen on points, that's always a great idea!

I don't suppose he's allowed to wait until, you know, the draft is actually over? Because it might put him at a weensy bit of a disadvantage if he made the list public before the draft.

From USA Today:

However, the real heavyweight is Victoria defenseman Keegan Kanzig. He might have zero puck skills and rather slow feet, but Kanzig is a mammoth presence on the blue line. At 6-5, 240, keeping opponents away from his net and off the puck by using size and strength is his game. Both his skating and shot could be timed with a sun dial, but he's always on the ice against the opposition's top line and on the penalty kill in a shutdown role. And make no mistake: We have yet to see him lose a fight in two seasons. He's a rough customer will fight the Western Hockey League's toughest over-agers and shows no fear and tremendous balance for a big man.

In all fairness all third round picks are extremely unlikely to make the NHL.

It seems Chris Breen is so big, they had to draft him in two goes.

At least we'll have something to cheer for if he's on the ice. I live goons but he probably could have been picked in the 27677546th round

I don't think any team goes into the 3rd round later thinking that way and if a team doesn't think a kid can make the NHL they shouldn't be using a draft pick on him in any round.

True, but I'd prefer them to take someone who's upside is a little higher than Adam Pardy.

There was also a poster a couple posts above you saying that he's horrible. Its all anecdotal. And furthermore, considering how ridiculously low he's been ranked by all the major drafting agencies who presumably watched him, I'd say its pretty telling.

Well, you certainly couldn't go around them. At least, not without leaving the building.
