Again, if Feaster wants to avoid criticism he should release his list.

Over 100 spots higher? Lol

And i love the goons.

Lol

Those are the types that you try to find through free agency (D-men with 5/6 upside). Yes, he's big, but he's also extremely unlikely to make the NHL. Stupid pick.

I'm alright grabbing some size for the rebuild. A big 6'7'' monster is going to cause pause when someone thinks about targeting one of the kids.

But with a high 3rd pick I hope they believe can become more than just a 5 minute a night big body.

Don't like but the Flames do need size on the back end.

Feaster has had his eye on him for a while

He was number 12 on their list

Feaster is really excited to get him, can't believe he was available

A little disappointing at first blush. Sounds like a 6th or 7th round pick to be honest.

The no-frills style of stay-at-home, physical, effective defense that Kanzig plays doesn’t typically show up on the score sheet, but he continued to refine it and become more of a force in his sophomore year.
Just because you guys found his fights on youtube doesn't mean you should box him into being just a goon. It seems he is actually capable in his own end.

He certainly doesn't fit the mould of the type of player the Flames have been picking post-Sutter. I googled this kid and everything points to a kid that's going to have to do a lot of work to make the NHL. I guess Flames scouts see that he can grow into a guy that can play top 6 in the NHL.

Guy gets easily frustrated when he gets walked around by more skilled players (ie everyone else) and takes really stupid penalties. 5+game type penalties.

Seen him play a ton - shouldn't have even been drafted and will never play in the NHL (personal prediction).

Love the 1st rounders today but this one was a swing and miss.

oh hey, someone who actually saw him play.

Thanks for the lowdown!

I'm not surprised to hear that he's a bit of a late bloomer. When a kid has a body that big, it usually takes time to figure out how to use it. I don't suppose he'll ever be an offensive threat, but he might work out as a pure stay-at-home type.

Just because he can fight doesn't mean he's a goon guys...

He could be phenomenal defensively for all we know, but can fight as well. Breen fights as well, but he's very very solid defensively. Nothing wrong with having a guy to stick up for all of our small-ish players.

I'd say his 9 points and 225 PIMS in 133 games in the WHL is rather telling.

He turned the corner in the playoffs. He's now a pro-rated 13 goal defenseman!
