Between the two, I'd rather trade this year's pick. I can't imagine how miserable next season will be if we don't even have the draft to look forward to.

If it does happen I hope the Flames could somehow acquire another #1 pick.

Seguin review in Hockey news.

"While he can play both center and wing, he's better as a pivot."

I think we could take on Chris Kelly's contract to sweeten the pot. He was terrible in the playoffs and I think they would jump at ditching him.

I wonder if it will come down to Boston wanting a certain player at #6, and will only make the deal if that player is still available?

I've heard that Seguin has had some trouble adapting to the wing and is a natural centre.

If Seguin passed medical testing, I would probably do this deal.
But I love Gaudreau and I think he will be a special player. Rare to see somebody his size rely so little on the PP to put up points.

Or the Flames want to see if Barkov or Monahan are an option first.

Speaking of that, if the theoretical price for it was the 6th + JG, would you rather have Barkov or Seguin? Let's assume Seguin is 100% healthy.

I'm trying to imagine the Flames having that problem instead of the other way round. I think my head is going to explode.

I won't go into specific players since I'm not up to speed with the needs of other teams... but wouldn't this be interesting?
Our 6th + whatever to Philly for the package that was being bandied around elsewhere of Coburn, Read and their 11.
Take Coburn (maybe Gio? But I'd lean towards Coburn) and flip him up north to Edm along with 22 and 28 for 7th.
Then take the 7th + Gaudreau + ? according to the rumors for Seguin.
I understand it's probably not realistic and won't happen but for the sake of argument, I see the sticking point being the ? that goes along with the 6th to Philly.
So coming in = Seguin, Read, 11th pick
Out = 6, 22, 28, Gaudreau, ? to Boston, Philly and potentially Edm (Glencross, Stempniak, Hudler, Cammy etc - only Brodie and Baertschi are untouchables)
After doing all this, I'm not sure I like it but perhaps Seguin is worth all this.
Edit: Along with all this, we could pick up troublesome contracts from Philly and Boston to make it more worth their while.

Both great players, but I'd probably lean towards Barkov that 6'3 205 as a 17 yr. old would be pretty tempting for a first line center.

Twitter is ablaze with this rumour, all based on the Fox report. Some lame in-the-know guys are saying other teams are now in the mix.
Bidding war. Let's hope the B's love for Jonny Hockey is what swings this deal in our favour.

Lebrun was just on Sportscentre and said the Flames had interest in Seguin. No names mentioned.

I don't see any posts making it out to be a done deal. I see posts wondering the pros and cons if the deal comes down.
Not directed at you, but what do posters, who seem to not like rumours from twitter, expect is going to happen in a trade thread? If they don't like the discussion on said fantasy trade then, don't join in.

FWIW, I'm 95% sure that @Fox25Sports twitter account is a really clever fake.
Even moderately competent news stations use Twitter to link to the stories on their own web sites.
