You still have to give up Gaudreau though. I was always hoping the Gaudreau would stay with CGY.

Makes sense I just wish we could hold on to #6 and still get Seguin. I would rather trade Sven than 6 at this point

Pretty fair deal if you ask me, exactly the type of player the Flames should be looking for (and have been searching years for).
If Feaster can pull off that trade that'll give him a head up in my books. That would also be the first real positive change the Flames have made in years.
The Penguins received Brandon Sutter and eighth overall for Staal last season, and the Flyers received Voracek and 8th overall two seasons ago for Carter. So in a draft with better prospects, sixth overall and Gaudreau actually seems somewhat reasonable. Although I'd rather have Seguin over Staal or Voracek in my view (and I do like both players).
Get er done Feaster! Even though Weisbrod is probably pulling the strings on this one, seeing how we're dealing with his former team.

He would be 'the one that got away' for sure. But I think Seguin is too good to turn down on those terms...

If that's all it is I'm game.
If Johnny hockey plays his last year at Boston college he could go to Bruins anyway on his own.
That's pretty decent fruit to bear for a 4th round pick

I just can't believe this Seguin rumour. There has to be more to it.
He's 21 years old and has yet to play a game outside of his ELC. I've heard he's a cocky jerk, but I seem to be missing something. Why would the Bruins trade him before somebody like Lucic?

There are a ton of reasons, but Seguin is just the odd man out with a team with too much depth on the Bruins. And I think with how well Lucic played in the playoffs he saved himself from being traded in the off-season.
It does seem strange, but the Flyers dealt Carter, and the Penguins dealt Staal for similar reasons and similar returns. So it's not out of the question in my mind. I could see us having to add a roster player as well, but still a pretty good trade for both sides.
Edit: Bergeron is also expected to sign a long-term deal any day now, and with Krejci's performance in the playoffs the writing is sort of on the wall for Seguin's future.

This article posted by OILFAN#81 explains it really well:

I have the same concerns. Especially with the timing of this coming up. With the draft forcing the timelines. I am worried about his hip.

Seguin has missed all of two games in his NHL career (due to the flu), so he seems to be a durable guy. I don't know how bad his hip problems are, but he really didn't seem that off in the playoffs (aside from not being able to find the net). The speed was definitely there though.
No way are any of us going to get any sleep tonight if someone like McKenzie or Dreger backs up this rumor.

Im all for Seguin..the only issue is that we tarde our #6 pick and we still don't have our #1 center we are hoping to draft.
Seguin has been RW for the majority. Its like Tanguay, center in his junior career...but winger in the NHL.
If it does happen I hope the Flames could somehow acquire another #1 pick.

I believe one game was a "discipline" issue for oversleeping his alarm and missing a team meeting.
And two Boston media outlets are reporting this is a done deal. Which I can only assume means at midnight they announce Seguin has been traded to Columbus.

Is there any way the Flames can condense the 22 and 28 picks into a top ten? Then deal newly acquired pick to Boston for Seguin? I said before I'd be cool with next years first but I really don't want to part with the 6th overall this year in a deep top end class like this.

It doesn't smell right to me. I would rather keep my picks and prospects and build patiently and prudently.

The Bruins are all about building a team versus building a team around 1 player.
They did this when they traded Kessel. They realized the greater good in the deal. They did it with Thorton. Cap freedom to sign Savard and Chara. Could this be there next big move for the greater good?

I remember the last time the Boston media was reporting a supposedly done deal...

I would do this, but that "chronic hip" thing scares the bejebus out of me. Have to be 100% sure health-wise...
